Tabs vs Spaces
-
I just booted up VS to confirm, and it is deleting to tabstop when i hit backspace at the beginning of a line of code.
Did you turn on some Registry setting or something? Backspace deletes spaces on my home set-up, regardless of tap-stops.

$ go fmt ur.self :P
can't load package: package ur.self: cannot find package "ur.self" in any of:
/home/ben/.golang/src/ur.self (from $GOROOT)
/home/ben/go/src/ur.self (from $GOPATH)
can't load package: package :P: cannot find package ":P" in any of:
/home/ben/.golang/src/:P (from $GOROOT)
/home/ben/go/src/:P (from $GOPATH)Of course, first you have to touch ur.self :P

Why would touch make a directory?
<This is my character. I don't get jokes. That's what I do.>

Ah, fuck, don't know Go, didn't know it's a directory...

"BEEP BOOP EXTRA TRAILING COMMA ERROR" problem
Use perl: trailing commas are not an error.
-
Use Go: trailing commas are required due to automatic semicolon insertion.

Use Go: trailing commas are required due to automatic semicolon insertion.
So, there's some language other than JavaScript that does that idiocy or is this sarcasm that my detector failed to detect?
-
Yeah, I really hate this school of doing shit the programmer didn't ask for to stop n00bz getting frustrated with syntax errors.
-
Go automatically inserts a semicolon at the end of any line that ends with:
- an identifier
- an integer, floating-point, imaginary, rune, or string literal
- one of the keywords break, continue, fallthrough, or return
- one of the operators and delimiters ++, --, ), ], or }
Whereas JavaScript inserts a semicolon whenever it damn well pleases.
-
-
That's nice and all, but I would prefer a syntax error on build than having to hunt around for a bug induced by this.
-
it has plenty of error messages
-
stop n00bz getting frustrated with syntax errors.
...by causing a whole other class of syntax errors, which will frustrate n00bz anyway, because they are n00bz...

Due to recent incidents on TDWTF, I must ask you to quit using niche high-performance UNIX-like real-time operating systems on your aircraft because the barebones text editors don't support configuring tab width.
Uh. Why does a plane have a text editor? That sounds like the kind of thing you remove.
