🌋⚡️🔥💥💢Request: please make a flamewars category coloured yellow, with red text.

Frankly, I think that anyone who doesn't swear is classist: “ooh, look at me, I'm a fancy doctor or lawyer or whatever, I use exotic polysyllables to express the exact same concepts that a plebeian would crassly just say!”
-
.... when did we get a flamewars category?
-
-
aaah.... well i wouldn't object to having a category for that sort of threads, trouble is when anyone of TL3+ can move threads we're eventually going to run into a situation where two TL3+ can't agree on whether a thread should be in flamewars or not and that will probably start a flamewar....
-
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me you little shit? I'll have you know I gradualated top of the class in gorilla warfare.
-
s/gorilla/guerrilla/g
:-P

Your avatar is a throwback.

I was doing a callback.

If we make a flame wars category, we might also need a meta sub-category for it, so everyone can explain all of their clever jokes. Maybe a wiki and FAQ also.
-
It's cool, I've got this good one that's just been collecting dust over at stackoverflow.
edit:
-
and i can turn that custom CSS off that was giving me borders around avatars so i coudl tell you had one. win-win
also awesome warning label.. I'm guessing Teenagers?

That is like a meta-onion of a joke.

Could I have that in a sentence with words of one syllable or less please?
-
Fifth Rule of TheDailyWTF forums: all threads go offtopic, flamewar, godwyn.
Might as well put all existing categories inside a big flamewar category.
-
This would be a good use for tags @PJH. You know, those things that work really well?
Temporarily tag a topic as a flamewar, so the pacifists know to stay away and the angry people know where to go for a good time.
-

Or just rename the whole thing to "flamewars.thedailywtf.com" and put any topic without one in the Bugs category.
-
“Them toffs is right #$@&% innit”
‘Innit’ is less than a word, right?

My instance is up to date wrt tags. They work so well I'm still not letting them anywhere near here.
-
hm... that means they either work so well that they are not fit for WTF or they don't work. at all. and probably leak emails and passwords too.

Don't forget that we're talking about Discourse here. One of those options is significantly more likely than the other.
-
well yes... but still. ;-) it is a possibility that they work as intended.

A slim possibility.
but nevertheless still a possibility.
i'll grant you it isn't likely but the probability of that case is still > 0

How about editing flamewars topic titles to add a emoji?
-
assuming you just did that to this topic.... because it doesn't work reliably

I copy-pasted a U+1F525 from the character table to this topic title. Not sure if it works in practice since the Emoji fonts are missing from this computer...

Now I'm intrigued. I wonder if there is a Discoinstance somewhere with them enabled....

WOMM

that one's IE, just for comparison.

@riking's forum has this extra box though which seems to do nothing.
-
I think that may be it. Here's what it looks like on @PJH's forum with my current screen size:
I like the way it's trying to squeeze itself into the space between the topic title and category.
-
Clearly another feature fit for release.
