🎂The cupcake thread of celebrations.

I'm celebrating not being @ben_lubar
-
Where is the light supposed to be coming from in that picture?
-
Discourse can scale the image, but that can't get rid of all the megabytez Ben can cram into them:

Business as usual then.

Titan, I believe.

wait, wait, i know that one.....
"Wherever it [copulation]ing well wants to!"
or is that the punchline to the one about a 800 pound gorilla that wants to shag his ladyfriend?

this topic has 700 posts in it.
GIS somehow decides that '700 cupcakes' means Minnie Mouse should get involved, so here you go:

I'm celebrating having Too much Time on my hands

Therefore, invisible cupcake:

I was half expecting TARDIS cupcakes.
I am pleasantly surprised! (TARDIS cupcakes are surprisingly caloric due to being bigger on the inside)
-
-
i really need to start watching the new series. I was super in to the old Doctor but havent watched the new doctor....
so..... nope. can't celebrate that.... and i've already had two cupcakes today anyway.
-
I suggest reserving judgement until you get to the finale. Capaldi's rough to get used to in the first few episodes, but he comes around by the end of the season.
-
I'm not talking just the current season... I'm talking about the 10th doctor forward (the "new" series started with 10 right? or did they start with 9? if they started with 9 then 9th doctor forward)
-
Oh! Sorry. I thought you meant series like British series meaning season, not series like American series. Yeah, started with 9, Eccelston, for one brief season before regenerating into 10, Tennent, of the "I'm so sorry" fame.
-
ah, sorry. i suppose that is my fault, for while i am american i sure have picked up a lot of britishisms...
and yeah i really need to watch doctors 9+.
tell you what, i'll let you know when i start and we can celebrate with cupcakes.
-
At least one per doctor, if not one per major event :)
-

Started with Christopher Eccelston as 9 (for one series), then David Tennant as 10 (3 series), Matt Smith as 11 (3 series), and now Peter Capaldi as 12 (1 series so far).
And on the 50th there's John Hurt as The War Doctor (aka 8.5).

Ya think? I wasn't too impressed with the whole of Season 8.

It was pretty weak. Though I'm still wondering how Missy made it back to our universe.

Deus ex machina. Like all the other filled plot-holes from Moffat.
-
I'm also celebrating that this topic has 700 posts in it.
Geez, would it kill you to resample those to smaller images? I think I just brought my entire office's internet to a halt.
(yes, that we just upgraded this year from a single to a dual T1 is also TRWTF.)
-

-
Yeah, started with 9, Eccelston
Except that he was retconned to 10, and 11 was actually both 12 and 13, although generally people don't acknowledge that.
-
Like all the other filled plot-holes from Moffat.
Argh. Well, at least they resolved that.
I swear, though, the show's turning into a comic book superhero movie: two big bads that have been
killed off
?
-
Except that he was retconned to 10, and 11 was actually both 12 and 13, although generally people don't acknowledge that.
No, the counting wasn't adjusted, primarily to avoid confusion, and also to avoid the need to go back and adjust all previously written material. John Hurt's Doctor is referred to as either the "War Doctor" or 8.5.
As for Tennant being both 10 and 11: yes, he used up two regens, but he's still just considered the 10th incarnation. The numbering tends to go by the incarnations, not the regenerations.
-
two big bads that have been
killed off
?
Well, Missy's previous situation wasn't really "killed off". More like "made inaccessible".
-
Discourse used to resample images, but I guess it doesn't anymore.
-
No, the counting wasn't adjusted
Well, yes. Everyone still refers to them by their pre-retcon numbers, but if you want to actually enumerate the regenerations, then what I said is correct. It's sort of like Windows versions. :)
-
Missy's previous situation wasn't really "killed off".
I didn't mean her previous situation, I meant the deus ex machina that ended the episode.

Oh, sorry. Misinterpreted. Not that it'll stick anyway.
-
I was celebrating that this thread didn't mention Doctor Who, but we had to go and ruin that...

Always glad to ruin someone's day with a Doctor Who discussion.
-
Not that it'll stick anyway.
I know, and that irritates the crap out of me, because I hate when my WSoD is violated like that. There were a number of things they could have done instead of what they did.
-
I didn't mean her previous situation, I meant the deus ex machina that ended the episode.
Something else I thought of: it seems like Moffat is downplaying Clara's story a bit. With Missy being the one who supposedly brought them together, is it her doing that Clara was the Impossible Girl?
-
The numbering tends to go by the
incarnations, actors playing the doctor not the regenerations.Except for 8.5 which they didn't bother ret-conning.
-
i'm celebrating the fog!
it was supposed to be all rainy and icy today, but instead we have fog!
-
With Missy being the one who supposedly brought them together, is it her doing that Clara was the Impossible Girl?
The Missy "retcon" of the Clara relationship does seem a bit like some kind of reverse gaslight or something. "My super-genius evil powers manipulated you into into a state where you'll be willing to do what I want you to do."
Honestly, the reveal was pretty lame: "
I'm going to prove you're just as bad as me.
" Meh.
-
Who's 8.5?
Paul McGann from the miniseries/failed pilot is 8, and he's almost always included when they do a review of the Doctors, as far as I've seen.
Also: thanks for blanking out spoilers, I'm not gonna watch any of this until it hits Netflix.
-
8.5 is spoileriffic. You won't know anything about him until after 10.
-
Oh. Well then he's just a dumb deus-ex-machina plot device and won't be included in the lineup. I say that, confidently, not having seen the show.
-
Well then he's just a dumb deus-ex-machina plot device and won't be included in the lineup.
Considering he was a major character in the 50th anniversary special, probably you are wrong.
-
I dunno, the guy gets less screen time than 9 all told. I'm guessing by the time Capaldi regens nobody will care anymore.
-
Yeah, but it gave FrostCat an opportunity to call me wrong, which is like 46 orgasms for him.
