Opera / Chrome has scrolling issues in Textbox
-
Using: Opera v 23.0.1522.77 (most recent version, apparently) on a Windows 8.1 64bit-System
When composing a multiline reply with the Discourse Reply-Box using the up-arrow to navigate to the top of the reply (which due to this being multiline is scrolled out of the box) will not actually scroll the viewport with the cursor.
I will pad this post to make some screenshots.
I am not really sure how it is even possible for this not to work.
I don't want to @ the Discourse-team for this but it is amusing when things you never thought could break, break.
And yes, it's my fault for using Opera, clearly!
Pictures:
I highlighted the position of the current cursor location. Now I press β:
Please note how the text-area is still highlighted and the scrollbar refuses to go higher. It even refuses to adjust when I input new characters outside the viewport.Filed Under: What is this, I don't even!

can repro on Chrome.
so we can add that to the bug list
-
I got to "Opera has" before I burst out laughing.
-
can repro on Chrome.
There, take your repro on chrome and start crying because Discourse
Filed Under: Could not reproduce on Firefox, interestingly enough. I thought you guys hated that browser
Addendum: also added Chrome to the title, so you can read the title without dying of laughter

if you insist. what size river would you like me to cry?
-
No, no, not you. I was scared blakeyrat would die of laughter so I used your repro to bring him back to normal.
You can see that clearly if you look at the tiny "β [blakeyrat image]" on the top right of my post.Unless you WANT to cry. In that case, you could try meta. It might bring their attention to this bug.
Actually, while I am still awake @riking, you have been in these parts of the internet more often recently, so I am taking a gamble and mentioning you. Maybe you could have a look at it (or delegate it to whoever). It is obviously not a high priority but seems reproducable on multiple browsers.

hmm.... tricky. I'll call Grimm and see what we can work out.
-
If it was easy, I could probably do it myself. I thought you guys were experts!
Filed Under: I am the expert in not being an expert! | Also I am suprisingly bad at crying!

Wrong Styx?

As an FYI, this is a Chrome bug, not a Discourse bug

Aside from the fact I wasn't actually commenting on the bug itself, just trying ot add a little humour to the situation... Chrome 29? And it's still broken in Chrome 38? Ugh.

I was going to post this before, but I had figured that it was already listed long ago.

To be fair, it's only seven minutes between those versions being released :)

Stupid Discourse ;), I didn't actually mean to reply to you... , I meant to reply to @Kuro. I likely pushed a wrong key while navigation, saw the editor and went, ah! Good, I know where the Discourse Team sits on this one... pass the blame ;)
-
Dont worry, since I am the topic creator, I get notified anyway. So at least you got to chat with @arantor , I read it anyway, you got a reply from me now. I accepted the bug as known and even read the bugreport @Sam wrote. I still think maybe one could work around the transparent border issue by not using a transparent border but what do I know ;D
Where does the Discourseteam sit on "changing who the reply goes to by editing"?
@arantor Can you cry that song for me? I think that might be good enough for now! Unless I need a real river in the future.

Make a new reply to the right person and delete the old post.

We're lucky we can edit posts at all!

Good question, not sure I've seen anything on that topic though
