unless it gets really suddenly shitty
I immediately thought of this:
-
Falskaar was shitty before then. It's shitty the instant you hit the "map" button and see how lazy they put together the map.
-
I especially liked the part where
the plot was to gather the things that we didn't want anyone to have together and then give them to the person we didn't want to have them. And then it all turned out to be pointless anyway because the final boss was killed by an invulnerable NPC.
-
Yes yes, I played it too, I know how shit it is. We already posted threads about that.
-
THIS IS YOUR MONTHLY REMINDER THAT FALSKAAR IS SHIT.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
-
Maybe I should do a video of it. If I could last through the 20-minute cutscenes without seppuku.

RobotEX!!!!!!! http://store.steampowered.com/app/330350/

FWIW, the positional audio of that strange spaceship section worked fine enough in the video with headphones. But that was just plain old stereo.
-
Yeah I noticed that in the waveform too, but I didn't when I was recording. In any case, who gives a shit? It's still an awful game that's a ripoff at 19 cents.
-
It is actually more expensive here, at a whopping 15p.

<aside class="quote">Top comment on Steam about RobotexAlthough they would like you to think Z and X are the only two button you need, in reality the two buttons you need Alt and F4.

Predator Simulator.
FYI if you care, I'm going to be moving all of the solo LPs I did on the Robots in the News channel to my own channel.

Predator Simulator.
Wow, what a shitfest. Everything expect pouncing on people. That part seems fun. But there's nothing else there.
-
Predator Simulator.
Dontcha hate it when you just want to make fun of a game, but end up liking it? The prey are awfully stupid, though; they don't run away. Some of the people do, but none of the animals, and only some of the people.
-

Well the game's not exactly fun, and it's loaded with bugs. Like the lumberjack that was stuck to my lip like half the video. It's better than the other two I did in that batch though. Undead Shadows was complete shit.
-
Holy shit I found a game worse than Robotsex.
My ears are still ringing.
I'm almost afraid of uploading it, I think it's literally capable of destroying speakers.

Well the narrative is nice, I guess.

BTW I genuinely really enjoyed this game. It's basically Spelunky, but with C-64-looking graphics and D&D enemies.

Right because it has. Hang on.

YouTube, being that highly functional not-at-all-broken site has no way of moving a video from one user to another without breaking all the links to it.

It's a small thing, but why are so many of these hidden item games addicted to subtitles? They all seem to be Something: The Other Thing. Can't game designers be a bit more inventive? It wouldn't be a big deal if it was an occasional affectation, but it's all over the place like a noxious whiff from a fat rendering plant trapped below a temperature inversion…

I'm thinking of doing a full let's play of those last two, because at least they have a genuinely funky art style to them.
Especially Sister's Secrecy. Which seems to have this odd thing known as a "budget" you so rarely see in the indie space. Like, not everything it plops on screen came from a Google search for "free game assets".
In any case, I left them installed after I finished the video.
Tomorrow's game is so generic I can't even remember which is it! Oh, right, it's some shitty RPG Maker crap being sold on Steam as if it were a real game. It also has the world's longest, most boring, intro, IIRC.
-
Today I played Potential Game Studio:
-
I'm not sure I'd classify that last one as a hidden object game. Looked more like a point-and-click game. There was no "find this bunch of random crap inside this pile of random crap to get a single object out of it."
The way you were pronouncing "scissors" reminds of an assistant teacher in college which pronounced
glScissor
with a "sci—" as in "science" and a "—ssor" as in "professor".

I thought today was going to be that Qora game, but I guess that's tomorrow.
Night Shift is kind of an interesting concept at least. Too obtuse though.
-
-
Told you it was crap.
It can hardly be called game at all. More like busywork in between boring atmospheric screens and stupid JRPG-like story.
-
I just don't get why, if I've solved the puzzle about cutting the tall grass (which is a whopper of a puzzle-- especially since the game doesn't even let you get that far without the machete you need) why it makes me then CUT 20 MORE BITS OF TALL GRASS.
I SOLVED THE PUZZLE. THE PUZZLE IS OVER. WHY IS THERE MORE OF THE SAME PUZZLE.
Someday I need to write an article on how puzzle games fail, because that's one of my beefs.
Another is games like Anti-chamber, where it only takes like 30 seconds to come up with your solution to the puzzle, but it takes like 10 minutes to carefully place all the bits you need to actually implement the solution during which the player is dying of tedium.
Even after Portal and Portal 2 got all this shit right, so many games fuck it up.
Next week: the Data Hacker series! Or at least 10-15 minutes of the beginning of each boring-ass stupid game.

What do you think the thinking was behind this game?
"Hey guys, let's make an MMO!"
"Are you kidding? We don't have enough art assets, we don't have a guy to do netcode, we can't afford servers..."
"Let's make a shitty JRPG about a guy playing an MMO!"
"Wow good idea! What should we call the MMO?"
"Uh. Online World? Is that... good?"
