Blugh. A shiver ran down my spine reading that. Occupational hazard.

@dkf said in The Official Status Thread:
@accalia I built one last year from 12×6TB disks.
my 20TB is 8 4TB drives in hardware RAID 6 (2 redundant drives) on a nice little QNAP box, though i wish i had shelled out the extra for the i5 processor, the atom that i got is more than capable of keepin up with the disks and data transfers but it would have been nice to run my PLEX server on the NAS too.
as it is i use the secondary network connection as a direct connect to my server (a nice little ZOTAC box that has two gigabit nics built in) for NFS mount, and run a VM for the PLEX server. (at some point i really should look into getting docker on that server.... just for S&Gs.... but i'd better try on one of my NUCs first.... just in case.)

That wasn't my objection. RAID 5 and transactional databases shouldn't mix.

@FrostCat Isn't it awesome how when I correctly chide someone for sharing lounge information in a non-lounge thread, somehow it instantly becomes my fault and I get blamed for it?
Fuck all of you.

@FrostCat said in The Official Status Thread:
Also, I'm a little surprised you didn't just create an empty file named dismhost.exe in your temp folder and mark it as read-only:
it would , except the damn process drops DISMHost.exe in a GUID named folder..... i'd have to create all the GUIDS and that would run me out of inodes, or whatever it is that NTFS calls them.
@blakeyrat said in The Official Status Thread:

i'm Application development. Unless it's a problem with our internal apps it's not my job to fix shit. talk to helpdesk if you want your shit fixed.
i'm a beta tester because i'm under the IT umbrella. i found the issue, i reported the issue, and until helpdesk implements a workaround i wrote my own workaround.

Apparently so.
if @weng were bothered, he could certainly have asked the @mods to move it. Hell, you could've flagged my message, if you were so concerned.

@FrostCat True; and yet you were indeed the dick for posting it in the first place.

Inject a DLL into its process that replaces CoGetGUID with one that always returns IID_NULL.
-

meh. too much work. i'll stick with my process that lets it leak up to about a gigabyte of data before nuking the leaking processes (usually only one spawns in the hour) and the folders.
took me about 2 mintues to set up, and most of that was testing that wildcard path to rmdir.
i'm not willing to spend more effort than that on work this early in the day.

@blakeyrat You worry too much if something will make one of your posts look wrong or stupid. Why don't you just delete it then?

@FrostCat This is like that other thread where you were being a jackass grilling Ben L about how he spends his time and money, and when I called you out on it, you were like, said "I'm only doing what Blakeyrat does!" while conveniently ignoring the fact that Blakeyrat wasn't grilling Ben L about how he spends his time and money and you were.
It's great that you have this superpower where I'm at fault for every dick move you make, but maybe relax it a bit, ok? I already feel like shit every minute of every day, I don't need you making me feel worse.

Maybe? 'Yes to All' as an option is a bit worrying.
It's probably because it was passed a collection instead of a single object. Because of this, even if the collection has only one item, it prompts to do it For All.

Why?
So I can store MOAR COPEEZ of DISMHost.exe!i wish, my poor 20TB NAS at home is getting full (of "entertainment" obviously) and i could use some more storage space. a 50TB NAS would fit the bill nicely.
I'm feeling a little outdated, My ePeen NAS only has 8 TB...

Err, why does this thread show a button for page 975, and when I click it, I arrive at an empty page 975 showing post 1 out of 48702?
Anyways...
For our new project, we have decided that we need a real database. For the last two weeks we have been running PostgreSQL on one of our colleague's workstation, but later this week we will finally get a new virtual server on our server for it, integrated with automatic backup and everything.

rins once an hour and only kills folders of a certain filename format. i'll take my risks.

@dcon Never tried KeepassDroid... let's see...
KeepassDroid's GUI looks like complete garbage compared to Keepass2Android
No feature list, have to look through photos to even guess at what features they have.
Looks like they don't have a native Android keyboard you can use, which means you're going to be copying your password to your clipboard to input it.
Keepass2Android also has a quick unlock feature, where you have exactly 1 attempt to enter the last x characters of your password, defaulting to 3

#I HATE TRAFFICIt took over an hour to drive 3 miles to work this morning. At one stoplight, I sat through 2 cycles without a single car getting through the intersection in my direction. I have no idea what was causing the problem. I could see all the way to a freeway overpass, and there was no visible obstruction; by the time I got to where I could see the other side, there was no obstruction there, either, and traffic was starting to move at its normal crawl instead of the complete gridlock it had been.

status New insider build (14385). Yup, still have uninstall GetOffice twice to make that fucker go away.
This build does fix my hyperV instances that were complaining they would expire on 7/15. But it almost bricked on physical machine. Damn Intel 5500 drivers. (fixed that by hard-booting, manually using Device Manager to update, (black-fuck), hard booting - hey, they did update! and then continuing the upgrade)

In my city this usually means the cross-traffic simply decided to continue going even though their light was red. Pretty annoying when that happens.
