It's your fault for using Dischorse…

Status: Ordered a Venus Flytrap. One that comes in a pot with the proper soil mix, instead of whatever my last one from Wal-Mart was in that killed it because they don't know what they're doing.
Good luck! Mine died as well, but I think it was due to watering. I couldn't stop other people around from watering it too much...

Status: Just had about 10k messages dumped in my mailbox over the space of three minutes because Launchpad decided to nuke a long project history and recreate it from scratch with an email notification sent out for each main-branch commit going back over 15 years. No wonder Thunderbird was chugging!

Status: A neighbour is playing horrible music. The whole genre is like 4 songs over and over with very slight variations. I don't listen to that shit, but I am able to predict the next pattern in the song with 100% accuracy. For example, I just heard muffled "singing". Just hearing the intonation was enough for me to correctly predict the exact bridge that followed it, and guess the chorus tune with 50% accuracy (could've been one of the two, but nothing else, so I still count that as 100% accuracy).
Headphones time.

Google suddenly went all italics. After reload in a fresh window:

Looks like something is wrong with Arial
Windows Update?
-
that would explain yours, but not mine. ChromeOS is linux based.
-
Arial's fine on my machine:
-
fine on mine too........
oh wait. it's not selected...... one moment
-
arial isn't installed, but arial narrow's fine:
-
Had some updates to install, so rebooted (fuck me the Surface reboots quickly…); all my fonts are still fine
-
This is how arial looks at my PC
Notice the little "link" arrows? I'm pretty sure they aren't supposed to be there.
I've been installing indie games all mornings. My guess is one of them decided it needs arial for its own purposes.
Still leaves the mystery if what's up with Accalia's chromebook.

Why the hell has Discourse decided to notify me of a like in a post from January that already had 21 likes?
If a post gets Jeffed, you get a fresh notification when it's next Liked.
From/to /t/1000? Divvent think so - I've just had one from last July:
Is this a sign of things to come?
As already pointed out, but since I'd done the search...

Aaaaand we have a winner.
"Void of Darkness" people. An abandoned attempt at creating a top-down space trading sim.
Tar and feather the font-stealers!

Postgres support with Npgsql seems shakey and cumbersome at best. Any experiences with that?

Flappy. Bird.
I just realized that I read the original as "Angry Bird fanfiction."
Filed under: Rule 34 says that must exist, too, but...

-
my last one from Wal-Mart was in that killed it because they don't know what they're doing.
Other than buying from an incompetent supplier, the blame lies with said supplier, not Wal-Mart itself.

That exists tooI am not clicking that link!

It's only a link to a list of stories, not to an actual story ;)

Too easy if you don't hide the domain name too:
$('a.subreddit,span.domain').css('visibility', 'hidden')

Just had a moment when my program was spitting out "WAFFLES" to the log when feeding it invalid test data (the data did not contain that string).
Found this deep within a connection handler:
catch (exception) { Logger.Debug("WAFFLES"); throw; }
Riiiight. Now I'll just forever wonder what the hell it was in aid of.
Edit: I also clicked the wrong reply button, noticed and deleted my post which then disappeared and reappeared again. Clicking delete again did nothing. Then it vanished by itself. Thanks dischorse.

Status: Dark Messiah starts really strong, then gets really, really dull. Maybe this explains why I could remember almost every detail of the first few levels, then absolutely nothing after that.

That sounds a lot like how Oblivion felt before I realized there's a fast travel system.

Status: today I learned about Shadow of the Beast for Amiga and now I'm suddenly regretting the fact I never had an Amiga growing up.

Apparently the game was high on razzle-dazzle and low on gameplay, though. Even by the standards of the time.
You never seem to get a good high-res look at what the beast-man actually is. Some kind of goat headed guy with a red orb in his skull?
Also what's the deal with the zeppelins?

Glad he's ok, but his wallet's got to be hurting big time, though.

Insurance will cover the repairs. He turns 80 this year and we have been talking about how he needs to give up flying. Time for him to enlist someone trying to build hours to apply for an airline job. You can usually hire them for $15/hour or so.
There is a saying among old pilots, "There are two kinds of pilots. There are those who have landed with the gear up, and those who will someday land with the gear up."
Honestly though, it probably comes down to bad hearing of high frequency sounds. There is a warning buzzer that sounds when you have flaps down but your gear up. In his plane it is pretty high pitched. As we get older, high frequency hearing loss becomes pretty bad.

Insurance will cover the repairs.
I figured that, but I'd expect it to send his rates into the stratosphere, if they aren't already, or if he doesn't, like you say, give up piloting himself.

No idea. It's one of these things that people can subscribe to, but which doesn't give me any stats for that sort of thing.
