bleeding age of technology
With discourse we are on bleeding age of technology.
So he's using discourse?

You bastard.
I've never understood this sentiment. I mean if you struggle to maintain a healthy weight, I guess some jealousy toward someone that doesn't need to work at it is understandable; but it sounds more like @Onyx has the struggle in the other direction. And fighting a really high metabolism can suck as it's hard to balance calorie density with actually nutritional importance.

Who said I called @Onyx a bastard in relation to his metabolism? Maybe he's just a bastard, who also has a high metabolic rate.
Jokes aside, I do understand it's probably a difficult thing to cope with if you aim higher in terms of body look than being a Grim Reaper. I could probably build some muscle under that fat - someone with higher metabolism is going to struggle badly with that.
Then again, he's probably gonna end up healthier than me in the long term anyway.
That bastard.

Funny thing is: 83 kg is actually a pretty healthy weight for 183 cm - darn close to optimal, as I recall.

Depends on your body build. If you're muscular, you can even get into lower 90s - while I look like I could shed about 20.
I actually did weigh 73 about two years ago, with the same height, and still had a beer muscle.
-
I wouldn't mind getting in the same region, given that I weigh something like 30 kilos less at the same height.
It's not without benefits. Years ago, when I was looking to avoid army service after college (something you, as a fellow countryman, may or may not have also gone through) it was my weight that ended up clinching it. Go figure...

Being born in 1993, I managed to luckily avoid it. I'm still technically "able to serve", so I pray every day no war breaks out, because I've lost my Army papers months ago.
Also, you're trying to take my job of "that guy from the weirdest country on the planet" on these forums. Tsk, tsk.

"that guy from the weirdest country on the planet"
The more I see at how other people do things, the more I'm of a mind that Poland is surprisingly... sane.

Take comfort in the fact that you probably are "that guy with the weirdest name on this forum". Until you told that you are from Poland, I was wondering what the acronym might stand for.

I was wondering what the acronym might stand for.
"Maciej" is my given name, "asjmj" is me bashing the keyboard when it turned out it was taken as a nick somewhere.
I kinda got used to it.
While we're on the subject, how is that pronounced?
fay-oil-ee-agh?
At least that's how I pronounce it in my mind.
Filed under: i've actually explained it on the old forums but CBA to look for it

That explains a lot of things. And there I was, wondering what the "jmj" stood for...

As if I would know... :)Some irish fella told me "f-whale-ig", some scottish gaelic dictionary suggest "feulig" (eu as in french fleur). I should perhaps ask someone the next time I'm in Scotland...

In which case...
faoileag
Where did that come from?
-
I'll try to keep the story short as some steaks are in the pan right now.
1996 I started on AOL which was a decent ISP at that time. They wanted a nick to register. I wanted something unusual, so I thumped a small gaelic dictionary (no, I don't speak gaelic), found the gaelic word for seagull, and there you are. It first became my standard nick on AOL, then, by and by, my standard nick on pretty much everything.

Oh ... that makes more sense. Thought it was Ben Lube. That would be a strange nick on this forum. On some other ones it might be rather normal.

It would happen the same way for me. Luckily the state, in their infinite wisdom, finally figured out it's too damn expensive and that they should probably just entice people to join the professional army and pay them better. I did have to go on medical evaluation before I started college but by the time I was done so was the mandatory army service.
Incidentally, in the "transitional" period, you could choose civil service. Which I would since I don't have a slightest interest in wielding a gun IRL.

Ah, the medical evaluation, that was fun. Closest you get these days are airport strip-searches...

I was tempted to fuck around on the psych test, but from what I heard they made you take it like 3 times at least if they didn't like it. And I was hungry and bored enough as it is.

Tricky business that... could fuck up your employment prospects royally if you got it wrong... I mean right!

I put athletic which would be a bit of a stretch but the closest of the available options.
I am in the "Healthy Weight" category according to The Heart Foundation. I've gone from being a bit overweight to this almost entirely due to cycling to work. Since starting to ride in in 2011 I've clocked up over 7,500 kms.
