:fa_eye: The Official Lurkers' Thread™

Sorry Nagesha, it won't happen again =/.
-
I'll have you know that my username is camelCase, thank you very much.
Someone really needs to invent camelopard-case.
I'm also one of those strange "semi-regulars" like @cconroy . . . always around, but only posting a few things here and there since way back in MMV.

Are we adding "a" to your heroic people? Like "AlexandrA", "JesusA"?

Wow - where did you learn to type in Devanagari script?
-
I've heard two lenghty discussions in the bus and train between Indians and apparently there's no such thing as "er" or pausing.

Some of my fellow country men think that everyone should speak fast and quickly. Pause is considered sign of weakness.
-
I've known a few Spaniards and Russians like that. Luckily I'm good at pretending to listen…

I entered "Nagesh" and it said "did you mean?" and I was like "yeah, sure."
-
Well, let's see... Microsoft stack developer by day (everything from ASP.NET to Winforms to SQL Server to mobile platforms), Unity game developer by night, C++ game developer by later night.
Been lurking the forums for at least a year or two.
-
I've been here since 2005. I guess I was busy in the earlier years since I somehow racked up 250 posts I don't even remember posting.
I remember the MPS kerfuffle, and actually liked MFD, especially the comments and the 'add your own dialog' bit that was introduced.
Started lurking more as life intruded with a new wife and family, etc. Although quite often I see somebody say something blindingly stupid or that I vehemently disagree with, and start to type a response. About halfway through I go "ah fuck it, I'm bored already" - and continue reading :)
EDIT: oh, from Australia, but currently living in South Korea.

This is known as The Ben L. Effect.

This is known as The Ben L. Effect.
There are multiple interpretations of that sentence and they are all correct.
-
I guess I count as a lurker too. I don't really post much, mostly because I usually lurk on a crappy mobile phone, which makes replying ranging from annoying (Discourse) to downright impossible (CS). Also, what @Quinnum said:

Been lurking for a year or two, maybe more, and managed to catch up with most of the big threads. So uh, hi.

Its is exactly the way I am signing my cheque-book in bank.

When are you finding time to sleep? Doctor in India advising to sleep 10 hours per day for software professionals. Others can get by with 6 -8 hours.
-
What?! That doesn't make any.....oh wait, I guess it does make sense.
Nobody's actually sleeping for 10 hours, they just put out that recommendation so that the software developers will actually go to sleep.

Let me create one pole and I will find out how many hours of sleep everyone is getting in their beds.
Fiddled Under: Some people are also sleeping at office desk.

That's one scary idea for Linux merchandise.

Scratch-n-sniff.
That would be horrendous for porn, or good, whatever floats your boat I guess

*sniff * *sniff * Mmmmm fish...

If it smells like fish there's a hygenic problem or an infection.
Or you're "accidentally" browsing a food fetish site
Filed under: Yeah... accident...

Nothing special about me, I started reading the articles in 2007, switched to reading the forums in 2010 after changing jobs, and now I'm here, registered only because it's much harder to lurk and follow threads without registering. And since I registered, I may as well converse.
Otherwise, I'm a .NET developer that got my start at a company replacing a million dollar software product as a part of a team of "fresh out of college" people (myself included) with VB6 (mostly) and C++ (for one component).
-
Been lurking for what seems like forever, even registered once, but email provider at the time folded and have no damn idea what the username or password was.
-
-
I started reading the frontpage 5 years ago or so. I discovered the sidebar and forums about a year later and been a regular lurker since then.
I think I tried to register on the on the old forum once, but I didn't get the registration email or something, becuase I wasn't able to finnish the registration for some reason.
-
I wasn't able to finnish the registration
Sorry, registration is only supported in English.

You can tell lurkers by their boring avatars with a single letter and a plain background.
Edit for future reference:

So how old are you now?

Really? You of all people are going to mock someone for their English skills?

No. That was lost on me.

This is my 15th post, which means I now have more posts here in the last month than in 7 years on CS.

I guess I registered in 2008, with 46 posts?
I'll probably go back to lurking when I'm less bored.

You see, this picture doesn't really tell me a lot:
Whereas this one tells me that you're a woman made of colored squares.

Whereas this one tells me that you're a woman made of colored squares.
By that logic, you're a cat made of black and white squares.

Just seen this topic.
Used to be a lurker. Wanted to post, but I was just burned out on forums in general. This platform make it feel less like I'm piping my efforts directly into /dev/null (so far). Also, once you get used to upvotes/karma/likes, it's difficult to get back to plain old human interaction without metrics to tell you how well you're doing.
And yes, I give out little star shaped cards to all my friends and they must give them out when I say something clever. Coincidentally, I don't have many friends.
As for introduction stuff, I'm what you would call a "full-stack" developer, currently doing mainly .NET and node.js, from Serbia.
-
@cartman82 - Why are you not going to America? Serbia developer would make lot of money in America.
-
What about you, Nagesh, wouldn't an Indian developer make a lot of money in America?
