Look, let's have someone point a radiological weapon at you and see how well you cope.

hmm...... i wonder..... could someone use a particle accelerator as an effective weapon?

Why is Grandma browsing arstechnica.com in this scenario? There's no pictures of grandkids or knitting patterns to be found there...

At least it wasn't a point-ed stick...

My university emails stopped getting forwarded to my Gmail because who the fuck knows why. The forwarding setting got deleted or something. I don't know.
Bad idea: I told Gmail to pretend it was an email client and download my emails for me instead of relying on my university's <Microsoft Outlook> email system to keep the forwarding setting if I were to re-set it.
Within a few minutes:
In the time it took me to crop and paste the screenshot, the number increased to 334.
The inbox number is set to only count my "important unread" emails, and the only emails that are showing up there are emails from spammers that emailed three random names at my university per email and Gmail thought it was important because of "the people involved in this conversation".
Gmail assumes that the email isn't spam because my university's <Microsoft Outlook> email system didn't have it marked as spam.

They should bring back the bastinado for Peta.

Licensed or unlicensed?

Changing the chocolate in UK Creme Eggs.
I just saw that in FB, and apparently they're doing it in the US too.

i'm thinking Research actually.
just taking the particle beam from the LHC (for example) and aiming it at someone.
ideally someone you don't like.

They'd be dead before the beam got 'em. The high vacuum and extreme cold would do it. (Big particle accelerators need a lot of run-up to work. Even a “small” big accelerator is going to be on the order of a mile long. Difficult to aim; you need to mount the target in the correct location.)
Try the NIF instead.

I think they're coming out with a Black Edition Creme Egg...

I think they're coming out with a Black Edition Creme Egg
Is that anything like Burger King's Black Whopper in Japan?
-
Apple-zation everywhere. I was talking to a vendor about HTML today and he repeatedly spelled iframe, as in (as far as I could tell from context) iFrame.
-
you really don't need dairy to make delicious chocolate, after all
Chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, sugar. Period.
-
I was talking to a vendor about HTML today and he repeatedly spelled iframe, as in (as far as I could tell from context) iFrame.
You should have stabbed him in the iBall.

What an iDiot.
-
Chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, sugar. Period.
One of these ingredients is not like the others...
-
You should have stabbed him in the iBall.
I am not @blakeyrat. I generally avoid insulting people I want help from, and I may need help from this guy again.
But iPonts for the pun.
-
True, but sugar is necessary. I've eaten 99% cocoa chocolate; it's great for cooking, but not for eating. 70% - 80% cocoa is good.
-
You should have stabbed him in the iBall.
Or removed his iBall and shoved it up his iHole.
Filed Under: Defining iBall is left as an exercise for the reader.

99% cocoa chocolate;
...is actually remarkably bitter actually. Another instance of my learning that higher numbers are not always better.
-
Kick him in the iNads!
-
I love dark chocolate, and so I thought higher percentages were better. That's only true up to a point!
-
Kick him so hard his iNads end up in his iNtestines!

I am not @blakeyrat. I generally avoid insulting people I want help from, and I may need help from this guy again.
Oh yeah, was just going for the pun.
-
I love dark chocolate, and so I thought higher percentages were better. That's only true up to a point!
Yes. Like I said above, 70% - 80% is good. 90% - 100%, not so good (for eating, but great for cooking).
Someday I'm still going to do that blind taste comparison I posted about months ago. Someday...
-
Oh yeah, was just going for the pun.
Yes, I took the opportunity to add one of my own.
-
I generally avoid insulting people I want help from
How are they supposed to know they are inferior to you, then? ;<tqvx>)
-
Obviously they're not, as long as I might want more help from them.
-
of the four components on that list, Sugar was not the one i thought was out of place.
-
This one?
-
no..... not that one. either....
Chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, sugar. Period.
you listed four ingrediants and tar pointed out one does not fit.
i agree. you're down to two ingrediants
-
four ingrediants
Now I see what you did there (besides misspelling "ingredients," but that's hardly unexpected).
-
of the four components on that list, Sugar was not the one i thought was out of place.
Should it be worrying me that I thought of exactly the same idea when I read that post?
-
Now I see what you did there
i thought giving the count of ingredients would be a hint.
but that's hardly unexpected).
at this point it would be unexpected for me to start spelling correctly consistently.
-
giving the count of ingredients would be a hint.
I think we are all thinking the same thinks...
-
i had to think hard about this one.....
sorry?
-
Yes. Like I said above, 70% - 80% is good. 90% - 100%, not so good (for eating, but great for cooking).
That's about where I fall too... maybe slightly high, I'm not sure. I don't think I have noticed any for sale around here that is between about 72% and 85%, so I'm not sure where my dividing line is. ~70% is what I usually buy. I've gotten 85% a couple times and I can't tell whether I like it or not. :-) So like I said, I don't know where it goes from one to the other.
