What do any "new" number have to do with anything?
-
Here's the current state of my screen:
- Title bar has (3) in it
- Avatarbar has a (4) in it
- Thread I'm ready has no new posts
WHAT DO ANY OF THESE NUMBERS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? What's that (3) about, if there's actually (4). It isn't new posts in the thread I'm reading. (And of course the (4) is also bullshit, because there's more than 4 new things in the avamenu)

The thread may be ready, but that doesn't necessarily mean you've read it.

4 unread notifications since the last time you pressed the avamenu.

Well, that's disconsistent with how every other website uses (#) in the titlebar.
4 unread notifications since the last time you pressed the avamenu.
Okay, well it says I have a number of unread notifications now I'll just check the avamenu and...
hmm, weird, it doesn't distinguish the new ones from the old ones in any meaningful way. Well, I'll just glance back at the number and figure it outmyself...
owait, opening that menu cleared the number. Which ones are which now.

Natch. Someone reported this on meta.d and got CLOSED_AS_DESIGNED.
Related Discofuckery - if an admin impersonates a user, they need to click the avamenu to log out as that user which clears the "new" notification counter for that user. This is also CLOSED_AS_DESIGNED because, well, they still don't get the whole thing about the software not fucking up the user's data.
-
If your computer has been asleep for any period of time, they're all wrong. That's the really fun part. (The one in the notification icon will eventually fix itself; the others you need to actually hard-refresh. From my experience.)
-
Best one I have spotted tonight is if you reply to a thread and then tab out to another page while discourse is "saving" your post. If you check the title without returning to the tab it will indicate a new post. The post you just made apparently counts as a new post that you need to read.

Wait, you're ABLE to user your browser & resources for something other than Discourse while Discourse is running? The Discodevs are then-- they have more resources of yours they could-- no SHOULD-- be utilizing!

Just for purposes ... what does the number next to "New" in your menu say?

eff does not permit people using Dicksaws in multiple tabs.
Not even on Mobile? I know that is different...

Not even on Mobile?
NO ONE SHOULD USE TABS! OR MOBILE UNLESS SAFARI ON IPHONE 6S!
That's a Doing It Wrong™ rating of 5 out of 5.

What about multiple tabs on Firefox mobile on an old android phone?

Post that on meta.d, see if you can give Jeff an aneurysm.

Afraid he banned me a while back. Apparently criticising cdn is not appreciated.

Do not taunt cdn.

Old Android phone? Like a Galaxy S5?
Because that's what I do.

Eh? I just click that "logout" icon thing:

You know what's hilarious is taking someone else's joke and doing a search-and-replace to change one word in it to another word.
I am rolling in the aisles.

I think toplevel category counts include subcategories - the top levels cum to 59, and the unread+new also sums to 59. The 27 on the portrait was discussed before.

That's helpful, given the sub categories aren't organized in any way, and the colors are the same for article, migration, and coder challe...

Yeah, I noticed that @accalia after @loopback0 posted, and figured if I'd edit it out I'd get called on it as well.

in lojban, it's pronounced like "shroom" without the r. It means x1 (event / state / property) is possible under conditions x2; x1 may / might occur; x1 is a maybe.
The word you're looking for is piblitki.

The ten commandments for using Doomsource on mobile:
- Thou shall not use tabs
- Thou shall not use on anything slower than 4G
- Thou shall not complain your battery goes flat within five minutes of using the fucking forum
- Thou shall only use in portrait mode
- Thou shall not zoom
- Thou shall not try to override the zoom restriction we put in place you asshole
- Thou shall memorize the entire MarkBBHTMLdown syntax because we're not even going to give you a fucking "bold text" button, let alone a "preview" button
- Thou shall throw away whatever inferior device you have and replace it with an iPhone
- Thou shall work on the Sabbath, for us, for free
- Thou shall dynamically replace this commandment with not doing whatever you were doing that broke because you were obviously doing it wrong
That is all.

in lojban, ... The word you're looking for is piblitki.
No, it's not. Whatever word @PleegWat was looking for, I'm 99.99999999% certain that it was not a word in lojban.

Okay, I know we mock DillPickle's "That's Different" flaws a lot-- but I never realized there were SO MANY fuckups. Enough to codify them in a list AND have to include a wildcard spot.

FWIW, mine doesn't drain that much. But my phone isn't powered by a rechargable potato either.
Not that the mobile interface is good. It makes me want to rip
my's hair out.

Huh? The word I @accalia'd was 'sum'.

Huh? The word I @accalia'd was 'sum'.
What @HardwareGeek was getting at is that you weren't looking for a word in LOLban because there's no situation ever where anyone except @Ben_Lubar is ever looking for words in LOLban.
-
Oh, I realized that.
It was just that I only now considered that some people might be genuinely wondering what I meant to type.
-
FWIW, mine doesn't drain that much. But my phone isn't powered by a rechargable potato either.
Well, mine doesn't drain within 5 minutes either, it was an exaggeration on my part. It does, however, drain faster than normal.
-
The claim's been made by more than just you
I honestly don't see that much of an impact on the battery life, unless I'm in a really bad service area
-
I'm aisling in the rolls here
-
mine doesn't drain within 5 minutes either
so you get a full 6 minutes of usage out of it?
