Technically, I guess they were correct...?
-
I mean, technically it is "black pipe", but generally when one goes to the department looking for "black pipe" on the Home Depot website, one is looking for black steel pipe like one uses for gas supply line... Foamcore pipe just won't hold up for that. ;)
-
but it is schedule 40!
that means.... actually i'm not sure... is it better or worse than Schedule 45?
-
ABS foam?

Yeah, I can tell you are a real handyperson. ;)

i know which end of a hammer hits the wall and i've nailed my paw to the floor with a nail gun once....
beyone that? i'm pretty clueless, but an enthusiastic helper!

ABS foam?
Edit: You were right @chubertdev. I just read the name and my brain autocompleted. This actually is ABS. First time I have seen ABS FoamCore. Interesting. (drain, waste, vent, for @accalia)

It is a lightweight PVC pipe, only used for DWV purposes. (drain, waste, vent, for @accalia)
i also build robots in my spare time.
well technically the highschool, students to the building and i teach them how to turn it from a sculpture into a mobile murderbo- err... i mean a mobile anklebite,,, errr.... Functional robot.
-
MurderDeathKill?
-
oh goodness no!
my robots would never take a life! (although one did break a clavicle once. but that was an accident )
(it was going for a decapitation and missed)
-
-
not anymore no.
but i was lucky! o managed to get the nail between my toes so that it never actually broke the skin.
i guess it would have been more accurate to say i nailed my shoe to the floor, but forgive me a little artistic license, please?

So you are the one behind all the dramurderization of the front page articles? Aren't you??

i wish! i'm not that creative!

As if a fox in socks wasn't bad enough1, now we have to deal with foxes in shoes?! What's next, a foxes' suffrage movement?!
1 Thanks a lot, Seuss!
-
What's next, a foxes' suffrage movement?!
Based on the progression, the next step would be foxes with socks, boots and ice cleats, or maybe with bags over their shoes like CSIs wear to avoid leaving footprints.
-
What's next, a foxes' suffrage movement?!
hey! as a 'murican citizen i should have the right to vote! (unless that right be stripped from me for reason of criminal charges fully sustained in front of a jury of my peers)
10 interenets to the first person who recognizes that without looking it up!

I wouldn't take that as a given. ABS is "black pipe" too, and hey look, the search engine gave you some of that.
-
I wouldn't take that as a given.
I would, and so would anyone who knows anything about plumbing.
ABS is "black pipe" too, and hey look, the search engine gave you some of that.
I said as much. If you look in the purest sense of the word, then yes. Anyone looking for black pipe will be looking for gas/oil supply line though. So the search engine failed. It was simply miscategorized by someone who did not have any domain-specific knowledge of pipe.
"Oh, this item is a round hollow cylinder and black in color. I saw a category for that somewhere...there it is!"

or by a former FIRST FRC student.
we use black iron pipe for ALL SORTS of things it's not supposed to be used for.

But but but that's totally unfounded. That's exactly my point.
You can speak for yourself, you might be able to speak for a whole profession, but you can't speak for "anyone".

I once used some for an axle shaft on something because I thought, "shaft material is expensive! Why can't I just use some black pipe?"
After ~7 minutes run time, I found out why, and it took out a set of expensive bearings and a pulley drive system at the same time. Then I had to buy shaft material after all.

well we haven't used it for axle material yet. but frame rails, ballast, field obstetrical, robo ropes course climbing rigs, and one "lightsaber" battle that ended in us kicking two students out of the team for a year for reckless endangerment.

OK, let me clarify: Go to www.homedepot.com, hover over "Departments" until it expands, hover over "Plumbing" until it expands, click on "black pipe and fittings". If you are specifically looking for "black pipe", you are looking for flammable gas supply pipe. I did not use the search function. If I used the search function, I would expect that to return ABS also, along with corrugated SSD pipe and other things. If I go to the category that is specific for "black pipe and fittings", it is an error.
It is also an error based on there only being a small few items that would not fall under the domain-specific category for "black pipe and fittings".
-
in an article about black pipe uses a header image of copper pipe?
It is an article about pipe and fittings, I linked the subcategory for steel pipe.
-
oooh. well that's less of a WTF then.
-
Now that complaint makes more sense.

You need to have a talk with your shoulder aliens about the assumptions they make when you read things.

For further reference, please refer to any post where you have chastised someone for making a faulty assumption or inferring something on one of your posts and you completely lost your shit on them.
-
So you were "looking for" it but you didn't use the search function to do that.
What the fuck ever.
-
Did I say "when I used the search function"? Shoulder aliens man, you need to have a talk with them.
-
At least it didn't show you results for the @algorythmics version of "black pipe"

Well there is a highlighted category right there in his screenshot.

I would have taken a screenshot of the entire page, but they put "Show results only for your local store #1234" in it.

Why not? It could be led by a fox in a halterneck and tight trousers:
