Desktop computing is not going to die until desks do, and that's not going to happen until hi-def 4k+ internet terminals get routinely implanted when you get your MMR jabs as an infant.

I completely agree, it is stupid to design one UI (or even paradigm) for two different form factors. If I connect a keyboard and monitor to my phone, I will also run a different WM for that purpose and leave the phone stuff to Android's UI.

Microsoft knows how to make good UI. Last Windows I regularly used (not in a VM) was 7 (stopped dual-boot and been using only Linux after trying Windows 8 for few months), but still yes maybe Windows 10. I will use Fedora or Steam OS/Debian.
