Why would you ever want to do that?
-
has he ever used Discourse?
Don't know about you, but it breaks plenty in my mobile browsers.
Also, a totally useless change for the sake of so-called consistency that has potential to break all the things top to bottom? Why isn't Jeff already on it?
-

That was kinda my point; if the guy had actually used Discourse properly on mobile, he'd know how broken it is
-
Well, as he said:
I love the way it breaks down in mobile browsers
Personally I find nothing to like about Discourse utterly breaking down on mobile, but hey, to each his own...
-
despite the very developers of the app telling him he's a moron
To be fair, that's Jeff's default position.
-
Text selection is already somewhat of a on Android, so I don't take points away from Discurse for that, and so on
Granted, android is bad, but iOS is SO much worse, especially on disco. Sometimes the ios selector spazzes out completly, and will only select one char, or jumps all over the place.
oh, i missed @ChaosTheEternal's image was actually a gif. Why does it not animate as 98% of other forums?
-
Why does it not animate as 98% of other forums?
Because Discourse.
Also, I did try to hint you'd need to click it.

I didn't expect text to the right of the image. I presumed it was a block element. You know, like quotes.
-
I figur--
You're using the Widescreen theme, aren't you? The image in the Discourse Default and TDWTF Default is wide enough the text was on the next line.
-
-
I tried doing about 10 directory wide replacements from the command line
I'm attempting to change terminology throughout the entire backend of the framework
Unless I've missed it (which may prove the point on no-one noticing) the word "topic" doesn't appear in the URL?
But it also makes me wonder how much poking around in the DB he is planning on doing once getting discourse up and running. If you just want to run a forum then the only reason is custom badges, unless one of the admins here can point out another reason.
We could point him at @shadowmod, that's a good use for messing around in the database
Only that, (or maybe curiosity.) And most forums wouldn't bother.

No user sees those though do they?
Other than, as Spiny pointed out, when the topic title is all numbers or special characters and it puts 'topic' in the slug. The guy's still an idiot.

>Again, it is a beautiful piece of software - entirely on the cutting edge from my shoes. I love the way it breaks down in the mobile browsers.
…has he even used Discourse?
I assumed that he just hates people who want to browse on mobile platforms.
-
"from my shoes"
-
I figured he was using the wrong phrase; a more normal phrasing would be how it 'downscales' or 'adapts' or some other cockamamie term
-
Yes, but that's
