There's one. They must have thought quotes were too easy to see
-
*turns Stylish off a moment*
…why did they make quote boxes so much lighter?
-
Contrast is a to civilized discourse.
-
Oh, more fucking bikeshedding.
-
And in the interest of further reducing contrast, they've "improved" the garbage train wreck of coldmaps:
-
As in, subtly headache-inducing at first sight? Yeah.
-
Remember that default Dischorse removed the tiger striping - and we added it back.
Looks like we might need to update the greymapping.
-
What stylish do you have for quotes?
-
Remember that we're manually restoring the tiger stripes; meta.d has polar bear stripes instead
-
-
I'm aware. That doesn't make the updated fade-mapping coldmaps any less of a worst-possible-idea.
-
What stylish do you have for quotes?
aside.quote { background-color: #EEEEEE; border: solid 1px #CCCCCC; border-radius: 5px; } aside.quote blockquote { background: none; border: none; } aside.quote div.title { background: none; border: none; } blockquote { background-color: #EEEEEE; border: solid 1px #CCCCCC; border-radius: 5px; }
They look like this:
Doesn't quite work when nested three-deep, and there's also issues with expanded reply chains, but that doesn't really bother me much.
-
I use @abarker's from here, which include expanded replies.

edit: that was aimed at @jaloopa but I pressed the wrong Reply button.

off to a good start we are!
-
We lose jellypotato, and gain performance issues.
Can we have jellypotato back?
-
-
-
And in the interest of further reducing contrast
Ok, I already forgot why 22m is dark. It's older than the 3m.
Wait, it was weighted against number of posts?Fuck.... does it even matter.
Can I opt out of coldmaps?

Pretty sure they're just softening us up for getting rid of all those columns.
-
why
The
coldmappinggreymapping is based on the age of the thread (IIRC), as opposed to its last post, for Jeff reasons.
-
Can I opt out of coldmaps?
I...think we should. Especially since they already sabotaged the tiger striping.
-
Yeah… less than an hour, and there's a new bug
-
I was to see settings that I would like to change, then realize they are global settings that the mods control, which have nothing to do with traffic or moderation control, and everything to do with UI experience.
I suppose there's something to say for product look and feel, but I wish they exposed more of the UI settings to the user, as long as it didn't impact functionality.
-
the fun times continue.
-
I'll just leave this here:
There are no such things as "coldmaps"
Also, no more heatmaps.heatmap-high a, .heatmap-med a, .heatmap-low a,
body .heatmap-high, body .heatmap-med, body .heatmap-low,
body .coldmap-high, body .coldmap-med, body .coldmap-low { color:#919191 !important; }Can't fix it so the code block is quoted right, oh well.
Guess I need to edit that post to say it also "fixes" the greymaps.Or not, it's outside the edit window, and I don't want to bug a mod for something so small.

Oh wait that happened years ago.
-
I guess they've just given up on bugs?
The other devs actually get shit done (better or worse).
Jeff's commit history, OTOH, is - based on a 7-day sample - exclusively fucking around with the UI.
-
To be fair, someone's got to handle the important job of posting animated GIFs to meta.d…
-
It ain't Jeff, according to @sam

posting animated GIFs to meta.d…colouring things terriblyÂ

Just highlighting that thread for those that don't know/forgotten it exists but bother following this category.

Profiles onebox now; I wonder if there's a link? I pasted the link to mine, and as soon as I did so, the whole site started crawling!
And that was just rendering the preview…
-
I pasted the link to mine, and as soon as I did so, the whole site started crawling!
given that it takes ~10 seconds to load my profile..... that's entirely possible.
-
@PJH, @boomzilla, is there a way we can block the oneboxing of user profiles? I think it's killing the site. I would do more testing, but… well, that wouldn't be fair on everyone else.
-
it could also be whomever is like binging in /t/1k. i'm getting "Good Post" s like there's no tomorrow.
-
I'm not, but that's a sign neither for or against a causal link. I do find it highly suspicious though that the slowdown happened immediately after pasting
http://what.thedailywtf.com/users/raceprouk
in a way to trigger the oneboxing.

That would be me. Seems like someone recently lifted the rate limit. I've been down the highway of infinilike ever since.
-
Seems like someone recently lifted the rate limit.
.... how many have you handed out today?
last i checked the limit was 800/day

Yeah, oneboxing profiles isn't a causal link; I just tried it again, and no cooties. So, @eor, it's your fault!
Kidding of course; it's because of shitty software ;)
