Can we *please* nuke the fucking bots?
-
Badge notifications are the worst, indeed.
-
Those are all from the gaming topic though. hard to complain about spam when you talk in the spam topic.
-
I still think we need delete buttons.
Even if they are drawn with paint.
-
Oh well obviously you're right and Discourse does everything correctly and we should never complain about this glorious golden gift from the heavens.
WTF. Go away.

Amen brother.
-
yes because I clearly think @d icsourse is flawless
@dicsourseisnotflawless
oh wait.

One solution could be to disable the Nice Post badges, since we have Mediocre Poster, Passable Poster and Reasonnable Poster anyway.
-
Yeah I don't know why pjh left those in.
Or just set the nice badge minimum likes to 100 since we dont' have that many people in the likes topic, no one would ever get the badges
-
When I designed the foundation of the alerts system in SMF 2.1, I actually did something insane.
I actually allowed a user to turn off types of notifications. As in: you could elect to not receive notifications on likes if that was what you wanted.
Because I actually anticipated this very scenario. Because, unlike TCofCDCK, I am not a complete drooling retard.
This is a good idea. Naturally, that's why it's not in Discourse.

And this is the part that gets me even more.
Jeff genuinely believes that he shouldn't listen to what the competition is doing. The amount of mistakes he is making on this regard... it's incalculable. There are so many lessons he could have drawn rather than buttuming he knows best.
-
well if he did listen to others we'd probably still be on CS becasue discourse wouldn't be full of enough WTFs for us.
:-D
-
I do find it ironic that the WTF forum is so full of WTFs in terms of the software.
-
i'm 99.99999999% positive its on purpose.
-
participation in the Likes Topic has made me blind to those like notifications.... i don't even notice them anymore.
I still (sometimes? often?) notice them in other threads, and often go to check them out, especially when it's something I didn't just post.
-

That would suggest as per my earlier theory that we are simply being trolled by a master troll... but I see no actual hint of that in Discourse. I see a scary level of sincerity in their belief in what they do.
-
not by the discodevs, by @apapadimoulis and the other local admins.
-
plus, people seem to "like" the most randomly stupid posts. I have found that i don't even bother to go see what certain people "like" because it seems like they "like" almost every post I make in any topic.
and dicsourse is dead apparently. Hitting reply opened my existing post, which it is already showing in the topic, but refuses to mark as read or show an edit button.
oh sweet, hitting submit on this reply triggered my existing nonexistent post to now show 1 reply despite there being nothing there. And finally a 503 happened and everything vanished.
-
ok did this actually post or not? hm. it cleared my reply text, but my ui still has no idea what's going on
-
Lots of 503 and 504...
-
but not the bots at fault:

-
sweet, now it will only crash from the memory leakage once every 4 days instead of every other day.

No, it's fucked up enough with or without the bots.
The load of the bot polls is not statistically significant in the scheme of things as I understand it.
-
There are so many lessons he could have drawn rather than buttuming he knows best.
He doesn't realize he's buttuming. He knows. Remember?

Nope, the worst are the reply notifications which you have to click to dismiss, and when you click them, it takes you to the reply and automatically marks everything above as read, because fuck it, it's not like you're interested in the rest of the thread anyway.
-
Can we please, make some bots, that fuck, and a bot to nuke them?
-
11 MONTHS LATER
Wow, nice one.
-
-
make some bots, that fuck,
> Pull requests
Push requests as well I'd imagine.
In equal number.
-
Push requests as well I'd imagine.
In equal number.
Probably one more push. Unless I'm doing it wrong™ .
-
You're Doing It Wrong©
Requires a final pull request.
And the timing of it is essential if you're Catholic.
-
-
Or if you're in high school.
That one's easy, just ask your teacher; he'll know.
Assuming he's not a git of course.
-
I'm not in high school anymore (thank fuck).
-
-
What if the teacher is a VSS?
Vatican Special S....?
While not quite boggling, my mind is doing something...

Vatican Special S....?
