🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD

You'll be perfectly within your rights to put both it and its owner out if it's not behaving properly (unfortunately, that's rather difficult if it happens at 30,000 feet)
But it would be oh, so satisfying.

Can I invite your wife to [SFLN]? How about the dog?
Neither of them play, but you can invite my son if you want.

I'm testing an open-source alternative to imgur, for storing images, then I just realized I don't trust me to store my images, as I'll probably delete it. It's also running on a laptop.
The software itself is interesting, and there is a free to use instance from their creators at http://lut.im
Since you wasted your time reading it, I'll share my thoughts on this software so far:
- totally free and without ads, software is AGPL 3 licensed
- written in Perl
- running for a few hours, it's using 187MB of memory
- image upload is anonymous
- allow to encrypt the images on the server (I think the key will be in the URL)
- doesn't give any power to the site admin, there isn't even user accounts. Maybe I could look something on the sqlite database if it's not encrypted
- it keep a list of your URLs in your browser local storage when you upload, if you lose your URL, and the local storage from your browser, you lose access to those images
- there is a secret link for deleteting the image
- my test instance is at http://lutim.fbmac.xyz , I'm not doing anything important with it. It can, and probably will be deleted
- there are already docker containers for it
:-P
edit: correction, it stores the images as files, in a folder. I didn't see it before because it wasn't initially exposed in my docker container. It's sqlite + filesystem then.
-
there is a secret link for deleteting the image
I'm guessing that is your favorite feature and the secret is that you have to append /fbmac to the end of the image url
-
I could change the source-code for it ```:P``
But now I found that I can just delete the images from the "files" directory, at least in the instance I'm running. It's not like I won't probably delete the container it's running on anyway.
Discourse provided me with something to upload there, while I tried to edit that post:

Strange for them to note the price down to tenths of cents, but I don't think I'll be buying that even if it's only 2 euros.

I'd love to know what Mr Kardashian's "involvement" was with this. Other than the price tag.

Oh that's right, someone linked an excellent article about how PIV is rape. This literally means practically EVERYTHING is rape, right? I mean, wearing underwear unnecessarily stimulates while simultaneously repressing the----- Oh crap, who developed this SJW module and activated it?

"Re-member" is a microagression against post-op male-to-female transsexuals. By misspelling that word they prevented a lot of SJW bullshit.

There's only one person here who is capable of such a perverse and cruel act...

I was waiting for the truck to suddenly brake and I was disappointed.
What country is that even legal in? In the US, 60+ MPH speed limits don't co-exist with roads non-motorized vehicles can enter.
Also I'm not sure what's LESS safe, the cyclist on the freeway, or the asshole using a camcorder while he's driving. I'm going to go with asshole. At least the cyclist is only risking HIS OWN life. Hey, you know what the best thing to do is when you come across a dangerous traffic situation that demands your full attention? Whip out your camcorder and barely pay attention to the road so you can post it to the YouTubes!

From the angles in the video, I think it's the front-seat passenger taking the video. There's too little of the car interior visible to be taken from the driver's seat, and the shot of the speedometer appears to have been taken not square-on, but from a bit to the right.
The cyclist is an idiot, however.

55 MPH limits do, on rural highways. Shockingly, people don't always strictly obey those limits. And there are places where 60+ limits and bicycles do coexist, where the highway is the only road through the area. The only specific example I can think of off the top of my head is a short stretch of US-101 between Ventura and Santa Barbara that is squeezed between a cliff on one side and the ocean on the other. Most of that way there is a parallel frontage road, but there is a mile or so that is too narrow; pedestrians and bicycles are allowed on the freeway for that short section. I know there are plenty of other similar cases (I think I remember one, also US-101, north of Paso Robles), but I don't have specifics off-hand.
-
What country is that even legal in?
I'd guess that that was taken in Germany. Which isn't to say that the cyclist is necessarily obeying the law. (It's not the UK — the truck is on the wrong side of the road for that, and that blue roadsign isn't used here — and I don't think it's the Netherlands either, as I can see hills on the side of the road.)
In the US, 60+ MPH speed limits don't co-exist with roads non-motorized vehicles can enter.
Not everywhere has those rules. Normal rural roads in the UK default to 60 mph, or 70 if the two directions are separated, and allow cyclists unless there's a sign explicitly saying otherwise.

There's no way a front seat passenger can get that clear a video of the dash. Not convinced.
-

Nonsense.
The sign at 0:10 doesn't exist here.
And the license plate on the truck looks un-German (normally, we have two groups of letters and one group of numbers, exceptions exist).
-

Ah, I
standsit corrected. I was ignoring the numberplate as vehicles move around.

I was fairly certain when I looked at your link. Then there's this:
B.L.U.F.F. AZ – The Foundation for a Better Tomorrow, along with NASA, has determined that self rape residues in the atmosphere are at unsafe levels in many areas of the United States.
The FFBT and NASA, as part of a joint taxpayer funded coalition, has been measuring the levels of masturbation particulates, semen droplets, and pubic dust in the atmosphere for the past ten years using orbiting satellite technology and data collection standards. Historical records have shown that self rape residue (S.R.R.) levels increase exponentially during summer months in areas of high humidity where SRRs are more susceptible to ionic attachment to water and cloud forms.
...
Refrain, or course, from masturbation and excessive handling of the sex organs. A two shake limit during urination is in effect.

You're right. It's not funny. It's science, and technically cheating (and therefore doing him no good, since there won't be any trailer trucks like that available during the actual race).

At least the cyclist is only risking HIS OWN life.
Well, and the conscience of the truck driver. Normal people would feel bad if they crushed the biker, even knowing it wasn't really their fault. YMMV.
