What is one post even for?
-
I've been seeing these one post topics for a while now and never could I figure out why they exist in the first place. Did I miss an introduction? Where they always there but nobody found them? Most importantly in what context except telling and breaking discourse are they ever useful?

See the pinned topic description in the category - it also explains how to hide notifications for those who don't want to see them.
-
I am to remember @matches saying he wouldn't stress test the topic creation anymore because it was more or less annoying to everybody... But fine art least it seems there is no deeper meaning behind them that I missed, so thanks
Filed under: not really bothered by them, was just wondering

The category should be muted by default.
-
Category muting (and tracking/watching) can't be forced by admins.
-
I made that argument, I was shushed.

Bug: barrier to discourse?
-
tbh I was happy to hear that this didn't ship with Discourse as a default category but had to be created by an admin for us to break things.

heh. I think you misunderstand. I was stating that, despite this category being unique to this instance, I wish that the admins here had some way to mute it by default, so it would not appear for new users (when they attain Level 2), or for users that are already there. You would have to actively unmute the category to have it appear.

Unfortunately, as @PJH reported, that's not possible for individual categories. All relevant settings are system-wide.
-
It could probably be scripted for existing users, but probably not worth the effort.

-
Sure you can if you try hard enough.

desenseticedThat's so badly mangled I can't even be pedantic about it.
I'll give it this, it's an unique way to avoid the British vs. American spelling controversy.

I will use this excuse for every spelling-mistake I ever make from now on!

I liked my life when I had one, but I have once again gotten used to being dead inside.

I'm not dead yet.

'Ere, he says he's not dead.

He'll be stone dead in a minute.

Well, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations.

Can't you do something?

+1 all around for Monty Python. -1 because I still can't like anything.
