The Official Status Thread

My suggestion is to find 10 users who switched to Linux because "fewer viruses" and clock them in the head.
There still are fewer, last I checked. In any case, neither this server, nor me using Linux for my work have been influenced by that claim. Every system has security holes. I won't even try to guess nor claim to know which one has more of them, or which ones are more dangerous. It's all moot now anyway, shit happened, now I have to get my shovel and get to work.
Then you can burn the server or whatever. Eat it, maybe.
Mmmm... tempting....

Reinstalling the damned server. Yeah, I gave up.

I normally eat lunch at 11 AM to avoid the noon crowds.
-
In this case it was leftover Carnitas, so a crowd was not expected. ;)

"Flavored" vodka is an oxymoron.
That depends. Did you flavour it yourself? That's what the Russians do (when they're not being skanky) and some flavourings can be pretty good. Try lemon peel or a chilli (☠): pop the vodka and the flavourant in a bottle and leave in the refrigerator for a week or so. There are some herb/spice mixes that work very well indeed, but I couldn't give a recipe there off the top of my head.
-
Relevant bit from that page:
It is highly neutral, most flavouring substances having been eliminated during distillation and filtration, the latter process employing charcoal purifiers.
By its definition, vodka is: tasteless, odorless, colorless. When you flavor it, it is no longer "vodka".
-
Maybe me or @cartman82 should send you some šljivovica. That way you can have the flavour and get drunk just as effectively without arguing about it being the real thing or not.

- ethyl alcohol, a significant component of vodka has a flavour, therefore vodka must as well
- ethyl alcohol has an odour, see #1
- yeah you got me there. it's supposed to be clear, but visually distinguishable from water if you happen to have a chromograph (because ethyl alcohol has different absorption lines to water)

That's "шљивовица" for you heathens. And I prefer dunja myself.
-
Plus what he was quoting points out that most things are removed, but there should be emphasis on the most for this conversation. The flavor of vodka is subtle, but is supposed to exist.

I hereby swear to finally learn Cyrillic one of these days. Seriously, I had to go Google translate shit way too often just because I couldn't read the damned letters, while I can understand the language perfectly. It's getting embarrassing.
As for the flavour, I'm not really a connoisseur of such drinks, so I won't argue that. Though once it gets in 70% vol. alcohol range, can you really tell the difference? :P

Honestly, I had to copy-paste it from wikipedia, I don't keep that shit language on my pc.

Ah, but the point is to feel it doesn't have that much alcohol, so you'd drink more. Something sweet and seemingly mild.

I've used it exactly once.
And no it's meaningless. Those syllables sound like words, but they aren't.

Currently wondering what's up with the Suggested Topics list at the end of threads. It's nowhere near as stable as it used to be.

Is it Freezing? Because DAMNED Netflix keeps trying to get me to watch that one. It looks terrible.
Which is undoubtedly true, because all anime is terrible.

Not that one. That one is terrible!

They're all terrible. But that one looks terrible.

Status: instead of watching the awful animes Netflix wants me to, I'm watching BADASS Godzilla flicks. Badasssssss.
Actually I'm watching Rodan which isn't technically a Godzilla flick. But close enough.

Congrats for finally dethroning @FrostCat!

Status: finally got all the networking stuff working on the reinstalled server. My install scripts finally running so I can get the phones up and running in time for when the call centre opens. Not caring about all the other bullshit someone custom installed afterwards, let them deal with that.
I'm watching BADASS Godzilla flicks
I am gonna buttume that doesn't involve the "new" one. Fucking hell, how much Godzilla was there in it? 10 minutes, tops?

Fucking hell, how much Godzilla was there in it? 10 minutes, tops?
Don't you get it? Godzilla was his reincarnated dad! The symbolism is pretty subtle I know, they only whack you over the head with it like a frying pan about 3 dozen times.

Why are you using Windows 2000, and why does the dialog say "Logon"? What is "Logon"?
There's no way that dialog came from Microsoft code.

Why are you using Windows 2000
Or, a more recent version with the classic theme enabled because the default XP theme was fucking awful!
Of course, $employer locked the XP theme via AD group policy because changing the theme is a security risk or some shit, so I spent years forced to use the default XP theme that was designed by a kindergartener. Nope not bitter at rapant corporate idiocy at all.
