Welcome to mobile.
Again, I haven't had this problem on mobile either (though the vast majority of the time I'm using a desktop). You guys should try to be more like me.
Hey, I never thought of that.
+1000, GOOD solution, worked for me!

@boomzilla Good point from my wife: NodeBB fakes cooties to remind us that there is a world outside that we should enjoy more instead of posting here. It's especially true on mobile: we should look around and smell the roses instead!

namely flash
I can't hard enough.
eeeh. it wasn't that bad actually. they used flash to open an actual socket connection and controlled the reads/writes via javascript in the case of websockets not working and XHR fallback failing.
i mean sure, it was a hack, but it beat installing an activeX control. and XHR wasn't an option at that point because it already tried to use XHR and failed.
using flash is less of a wtf than just breaking your site utterly and completely.
ok, you already broke it because it's unusable with noscript and it's a SPA so it's even more broken..... but that's no excuse to break it even more, is it?

..... did you know?..... ROSES HAVE THORNS!

No, the flowers are ok. Just look out for the rest of the bush.

Bonus mobile WTF: when replying, NodeBB somehow makes your keyboard go on top of the input area. You have to enter at least one character to scroll down and see what you're actually replying.
Bonus WTF2: Guess what key I needed to press to type this? Hint: it starts with F and ends with 5.

@NeighborhoodButcher I frequently get the composer area scrolled off the page, so I have a keyboard and a lot of white space, and have to scroll to get the composer back into view. Which is really fun if I want to reply to posts, which may be jellypotato-levels of distance away from where I ended up trying to get the composer visible.
-
@accalia it's ridiculous. I dont want it to be live connected. I just want the buttons I press to work as expected.

Weird, the composer doesn't scroll off the page for me, but it does scroll the page. I think this scrolling was a hack.

abusing his administrative privileges to moderate a long-running forum
I hope you're referring to the hullaballoo he caused by moderating that Stack Overflow math forum.

I've never seen it on mobile. Neither Reply nor Quote has ever done anything at all when I've tapped them.
I used to get the notification counter for a few weeks but that too was taken from me.

(that figure was pulled out my arse).
That's a pretty big figure. How did it fit in there?

They're very small patents.

All this has happened before, and will happen again.

No, that's just funny. There's a reason we call it Jeffing.

No - I refer to his decision, very early on when he first came on here, to be not only an admin for the transition over to Discourse (sorta acceptable to iron out any back-end problems,) but to become - without consultation with anyone - a very active moderator on here because, coming in without a clue about the denizens, he didn't like the way our community worked.
He royally pissed off a few people. Me being one of them, to the point where I almost resigned. This post expounds on it a bit.
Others simply left.

I do remember reading about that after the fact. I was just reminding relative newcomers of his other instance of doing the same thing. (That one was probably more egregious, because he told an (iirc) well-known and respected math professor and mod that the guy was . It's sort of like pissing in Edsgar Djikstra's cornflakes. (I probably spelled his name wrong but I CBA to look it up.)

More fun than being there at the time I can assure you.

For those that can't be reminded, because they didn't know about it to begin with, start here:
Synopsis (c&p from linked article):
Apparently this is the new criterion for removing a comment:
if the moderator agrees that the comment does not add to the post in a constructive way
I find Jeff Atwood's standards for removing comments puzzling and disturbing. I myself have removed comments, on very rare occasions, where they were genuinely noise, offensive, or spam. I am also surprised that Jeff Atwood is enforcing these standards (and, more generally, assuming the duties of a moderator) on the present website, of which he is not an active contributor (that is, mathematically), when there are probably bigger issues (i.e., on meta.SO) to take care of, where his role might be more useful. The president of the U.S. does not participate in a local board meeting.
