Article Comments
-
Tried out the front page comment system. I logged in with no issues, but there are some other problems.
- Clicking the reply button next to a comment looks like it doesn't do anything. It would be nice if it indicated what comment I was replying to somehow.
- The edit screen is ugly:
The edit box is tiny, the font is ugly, and there's no cancel button.
Seems to work fine, just needs some design work.

I couldn't login with my nodebb email and password, it kept replacing the @ with a hyphen in the error message. GitHub integration works fine but I don't see any way to log out.

@LB_ the plugin's documentation says it accepts username or email address, but it accepts user slug instead?
-
@ben_lubar I was able to login with username and password.

It just dawned on me that there's no Articles category anymore (per the spec). Now I have to actually remember to check the front page every day...

I'm wondering if they could have made it like One-Post and just post a link to the article every day?

The article topics still exist - https://what.thedailywtf.com/t/classic-wtf-xml-abuse/49879

@Tsaukpaetra does that not redirect properly?

It's weird. Clicking tries to go to:
https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/16567/classic-wtf-xml-abuse?_=1458705837687
Middle-clicking goes to:
NFC what's going on, not checking the dev tools.

@Tsaukpaetra NodeBB is magic!
-
@ben_lubar Not and ?
That's a problem...

There's also no way to tell if new comments have been added to an article after you last saw it. In Discourse people would be able to add to the conversation months after an article was posted. Maybe they were new to the site, maybe they just had been away for a while, maybe something made them think of an article they'd read a while ago and they wanted to share some further insight. When they did, the Articles category would show the new response. With the current system (as in the pre-Discourse days) that new response is basically invisible to anyone who's already read that article.
I'd love to have the Articles category back.

+1
I liked what we had before (except for the silly 'top comments' page). Discourse would remember what posts I had read, and it would notify me about replies to my posts. Also, likes.
