I'll let you say--if you care--whether that's an accurate summary of the Mormon position.
That get's into some pretty deep stuff that even some Mormons have a difficult time understanding, so I'm going to refrain from explaining and just say it's semi-accurate.

Just to be clear, though, to which doctrine of Catholicism are you referring? Infant baptism? Confession to a priest? Last rites?

Iirc, the most recent John Paul said that most protestants were Christian enough, but the one after him rescinded it.

Ehhhhh... well... they also believe in purgatory, which isn't hell exactly (Catholics can end up there, too, if I'm not mistaken).
I'm not sure if they believe that Protestants necessarily will go to hell, or merely that they'll have to spend a lot more time in purgatory before they're pure enough to enter heaven.
