Lastpass or Keepass (or something else?)

"Everybody" is talking about BitWarden as the obvious choice, but I have never heard of it. They even have a family plan.
Isn't that the thing Linus used before getting pissed off and writing git?
That was BitKeeper.

Neither had I, but I figured I'd give it a whirl since it was being recommended by "everyone" and I am pleased with it.
Same here.
The UI change is a bit jarring but not hard to get used to. I feel like the Chromium plugin and Android app for Bitwarden work better than LassPass's did insofar as knowing the fields to fill in and/or actually filling them in.
Yeah, plugins seem better overall than LastPass.
If you're willing to pay for Bitwarden (whose price is only $10 annually), you can also opt to handle 2FA directly from Bitwarden as well.
I started paying for pretty much all my tools, even the smallest ones, long time ago. All that 'free but not really' crap is so tiring.

It syncs using git
I don't want a detached head error from my password manager tyvm

I've been using LastPass for several years now, and I was happy to pay for it – I didn't want them going out of business. I'll admit I'm cheap in a variety of other ways (I certainly don't pay for all my programs), but password-keepers are worth the money. I'm not seriously considering KeePassX+Dropbox mostly because I share accounts with a not-terribly-technical wife, and I need her to feel comfortable with our password manager.
It looks like Bitwarden has all the plugins I want, and costs 1/3 the price, as long as I'm not going with a family plan. (I should probably go with a family plan at some point, once my daughter is old enough to use passwords.) I've had occasional wonkiness when LastPass is trying to find a login prompt, so I'll give Bitwarden a try once I can stop kneeling.

It hides detached heads. Probably in the freezer.

I had a chat with my brother the other day and he also said he was reconsidering his choices now that LastPass was going to cost him. I currently don't use a password manager but it's something I've been willing to look at for years (but ), so when he suggested something with a "family" plan it seemed a good idea. This is fairly cheap when considering the whole family.
In the mid-to-long term we're hoping we might convert our mother to use it. There might come a day when having a master password that can allow access to her passwords might become useful. I certainly don't wish to have to use that feature for years, but she's not getting any younger...
Anyway, he went for 1password, which in his opinion had all the required features (he's using both Linux, Windows and his phone), and I trust him on that. I can't really say much more about it, I haven't really started to use it yet.

LastPass says no sensitive personally identifiable user data or vault activity passes through the trackers.

[...]'Don't worry about it'.
