Designer rant
-
Me: "Why do these new pages have the same background images as that other section? Wait a sec... I... I hope you're keeping track of where you found these images and collecting licencing information?"
Designer: "Nope, I just took some temporary images for now, we'll figure out the real images in the end"
Me: "But but... we already sent the previews to the client... and he approved.... AGGGGGHHHH!"
-
Notice how "Save" button is red and "Cancel" button green?
But that makes perfect sense. After all, we wouldn't want users Saving crap in our database, so better warn them off of that. Much safer that they choose Cancel.
-
That's funny. I always thought Brian Blessed would be... taller.
-
Items [one page 2] are now styled as category accordion panels from page 1
I thought code reuse was something to strive for!
-
Isn't this most designers, though?
-
Actually, the "Cancel" button is blue, or perhaps 青. In Japan, a red means "OK" or "yes", while a blue means "cancel" or "no".
Perhaps your designer spent far too long immersed in a different culture?

I'm sad (for us, not you) that at some point your arrangement with this guy will end, and we won't have any idea of the chaos he is inflicting upon the world. This guy could have his own subcategory here.
-
So, that's why the PlayStation and its progeny have different button labeling to every other game console lineage on the planet...
-
Sure let me waste more of my time on this guy.
Could be useful time spent if you have to deal with him for the foreseeable future, I’d think. If not, then don’t botherYou expect him to understand what a typical HIG says?
Just reading the non-technical bits should be an eye-opener for him, I’d think. If it isn’t, then he’s probably a lost cause.

of course one wonders why nintendo went with xa/b in the first place. they're also from japan.
-
Specifically targetting the US market, which, in 1985, was almost completely non-existent?
-
Me: "But but... we already sent the previews to the client... and he approved.... AGGGGGHHHH!"
Think a few images is bad? On the whole you could probably still have those renegotiated and replaced fairly easily.
I (or rather the project manager assigned to this project. Heheh....) had the pleasure of dealing with this particular problem with an entire batch of font families that the customer had not only signed off on, but had promoted to being part of their brand identity. Yeah ... that was not nice.

Is that an "add ham" button?
-
Yes! Add the ham!

I feel you. Started a project with almost none UI design and no assets. So to have some icons for a demo we used FontAwesome.
Month goes by and we let a designer extract some icons from a given design. I tell him to add them to FontAwesome or create a new font since we already created most of the app on a font. Sorry, can't do, I don't know any of those CLI commands or such specialist tools (like FontForge)
Fine, send me the SVG and I'll hack FA to work with them... Even when we're paying you by the hour and I explicitly requested you to do it.
