Credit card surcharge -- implement *that*, suckers ...

turns out our third party payment processor made a code update such that zip code is required for AVS to pass and decline all transactions where the zip code is not of the format Zip+4, regardless of the selected billing country... Natch there is no client side validation that indicates this.
That is such a bad idea it should be on the Bad Ideas thread. Ignoring the non-USA problem and aside from the fast that around 90% of people in the U.S. have no idea what their +4 is: if the bad guys know the full address, they can just look up the +4 here. That really adds to the burden of stealing all that money...NOT!

?I was assuming that it was an @accalia of “fact”. Not sure what the original actually was; it may have been auto-“corrected” from something, or an unusual keyboard layout might be being used. (Why don't all correction engines at least use the preceding words to gauge the likelihood of a particular word being the right one? Or using the following words? They seem to be written by people who don't think of using the context to figure out possible non-gibberish options…)

+ !!!!!!!!!!

It was supposed to be fact. But looking at the sentence, well, it should have been "fact" (with quotes). Two mea culpa.
And...how do you know that all @accalia mistakes aren't actually made by me?
-
you're claiming i'm a sockpuppet then?
that's unfair! a sockpuppet would hae better typing skills!

I'd think someone typing with their hand in a sock makes perfect sense RE: your amount of typos.
-
No. I was just challenging his assumptions. How dare he label one of my mistakces (oops) an "@accalia"...that's just plain unfair to you.

It's in the Discopædia:

I said nothing of the sort, sir! I was merely questioning the wording of your phrase by inserting a well-planned "?"

You said it was an @accalia mistake. I didn't know that was a verb, until @RaceProUK reported it. I've never seen it used in here before, not once.
Sigh.
I give up.

either you're new here or i need to hang out in different parts of here because i see it all the time.
although the fact that i get mention notifications every time does help keep tabs on usage rates ;-)

You still didn't help anybody else out by telling us what you found. I still don't know what AVS means! You're a bad person!

Probably because that's extremely difficult. I don't know if any correction engines attempt it, but to expect it from all of them I think is not reasonable.

Yes, and I had read down that far before posting, but reality is a to jokes and there was a point in time where @tarunik had not yet rescued your readers from your negligence.

The offline ones might find it hard — doing a good job of it requires a very large corpus for the statistical analysis — but the online ones ought to do better, as they really can have access to proper analysis tools and the corpora required to make those tools useful. And my phone has some sort of basic statistical model anyway; it learns which words I'm likely to use.
Not that I use my phone with Discourse…
