[NSFW] Wholesale sex toys
-
Well, NSFW is a bit exaggerated, but better safe than sorry.
If you buy enough sex toys on Amazon, you can buy them by the kilo.
Probably they flagged it somewhere in their database as being a product like lubricants and therefore it automatically calculates a wholesale-price (or however you'd call that) based on weight and price-per-piece. Not WTF enough for Error'd on the front page I thought, but enough for the Sidebar.

But do they sell by-the-pound furry porno comics?????
-
This discussion made me think of the game Frontier ("Elite II"), where you could haul cargo over interstellar distances, and all cargo you might haul was measured in ton(ne)s. Ores, water, crates of fish or meat or veg, OK, I'll buy and sell those in ton(ne)s. I might stretch a point and buy and sell computers, robots or weapons in ton(ne)s. It starts getting weird, though, when you buy and sell gemstones and jewelry in ton(ne)s, but the worst were "farming machinery" (which I always thought of as tractors and combine harvesters, I'll have a ton(ne) of tractors please) and slaves (yeah, like we buy and sell people in ton(ne)s).
-
I didn't play that game, but I can imagine it has a gameplay function there. I expect that you could only carry a certain tonnage per spaceship and the developers needed to find a way to quantize all possible cargo.
On Amazon's backend side it also makes sense when it comes to their own shipping of course - just not for the customers (at least not for countable products).

Not that I'm aware of…
Interpret that how you will; I won't judge or be angry
-
Oh right, the forum's full of little babies who don't get the memes around here anymore. Given, the "by the pound furry porno comics" one hasn't been seen for awhile...
-
Never seen it before.
Not the first time I didn't know something related to furry culture, despite my long name proclaiming to be the Lord Knight studying it all
-
If I may call a point of order?
Your long name says you are lord knight of ancient study of curries and anthros.
One could well understand why your knowledge of MODERN furries and anthros would be a bit lacking.....
😝

Makes sense.Also:

Please, don't correct this one; it's pretty damn funny

Swype!!!!!!
At least swype is learning. The initial swipe for knowledge came out as: can kyon.
....oooookay.
-
can kyon
Never used Swype, but I cannot figure out hoewfurries
can be Swyped tocan kyon
.You are using en-US layout, yes? Either that, or Swype is suggesting new calls for when people annoy you.
Yeah, I'm just going to give up fixing typ[os for a bit.
I never knew typos could be infectious…
-
Well it helps to get the word right. Furries came out fine because I didn't Swype it. But
knowledge
I did Swype and it came out weird.
-
..and I still can't figure out how it did it
-
Neither can I.
-
Swyping the wrong letters probably.
-
Still wondering how this thread evolved from Amazon over Furry Porn to Swype...

@blakeyrat used a meme, then me and @accalia happened ;)

@blakeyrat's* 58th law - most topics involve discussing @accalia's inability to spell and frequent instances of blaming it on Swype.

Oh, blakey will find his way over here eventually

Does that mean that it is too soon to bash some open source UI design or something?

Given, the "by the pound furry porno comics" one hasn't been seen for awhile...
How long has it been?
All I can be certain of is that it wasn't you bringing it up, because you never remember stuff you posted in the past.
-
Neither can I.
For one thing you must have added kyon to your dictionary or it wouldn't have offered that.
Second, while checking for correctness is a barrier to keeping your spoon[1], you can actually look at the stuff before hitting the Reply button.
[1] I move that no later than the next time, if ever, someone gets the spoon, it be renamed "the @Accalia memorial 'too much time on my hands' badge" or similar.

it's probably picked it up from the times i slipped into "foxish" because i was upset.
:-D

Yes, but it won't offer the word if it's not one it recognizes, and it's not, because I just checked. So like I said, at some point, you typed it, and then tapped it in the list of suggested words, and let it put it in your dictionary. After that, it's a regular word and Swype will offer it.
-
hmm..... don't recall doing that. but then i don't use swype to swype. i find the gesture input option on the stock Lollipop keyboard sufficient.
-
Ah, well, I'm still on KitKat. I tried it out in Swype.
I found the LG keyboard to suck, mainly because it didn't offer meaningful autocorrections. I know the Google one swypes now but I'm used to actual Swype.
-

all manufacturer overlays do. that's why i'm now on AOSP.

it wasn't until discourse that i started typing on mobile much, and even then not until i got my Nexus 10 (i LIKED the 7" form factor.... until i dropped it and broke the screen)
-

My first Android phone, Swype was more or less open beta, so I got it that way. It was built into my last two phones.
-

The Samsung Lollipop keyboard easily works as well as the Google keyboard (AOSP).
I used the Google keyboard on all devices until upgrading the S5 to Lollipop.
-

Yeah - I used it like that for 2 phones, then Samsung included the same in an update to the S3, which sorta sucked, so I used Google keyboard until recently.
-
Sheesh...do we need a meta -> mobile subcategory?
-
Dunno, has @blakeyrant got rankled about a topic having the audacity to drift yet?
-
I just get so excited with the scintillating description of mobile keyboard technology that I think it deserves a little trolling now and then.
-
-
hmm.... maybe not a new category but it could use a new topic.... unless the OP objects.... or is that supposed to be if the OP objects?
-
I dunno...I'm just givin' you guys shit because thinking is hard this Monday.

Well, I did prefer the discussion about furry porn on the one about mobile OSes, but that's just my opinion.
To stick to memes I should probably add a picture of tea-drinking Kermit or a panda with a leek here.

With the risk of a whoosh, http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/p/20076/233717.aspx With my 7% participation even I got the reference.
-
Huh...well, now that I read the original, I do recall that.
-

Oh, yes, that's exactly why it was done, but it was pretty weird. In theory, you could load up one of the larger ships with 1200 ton(ne)s of gemstones (and there was even a place where a bug in the game meant that the "vendor" would give you (lots of) money to take them away, unless he was a cop, when you'd get a smuggling charge instead), but I'd normally say that was an immense amount of gemstones. Or you could squeeze in one ton(ne) of farming machinery, which was a bit surreal if you thought of the category as being tractors and combine harvesters.

tractors and combine harvesters
In a space based game, isn't it more likely to be hydroponics equipment, lights and fertiliser?
-
-
That looks a little to close for comfort to a robot that was after me that one time…
*goes to get Piko Hammer, just in case*
-
Interesting that in space they don't use one of the greatest inventions in 20th century shipping - standardized shipping containers.
-
In a space based game, isn't it more likely to be hydroponics equipment, lights and fertiliser?
Mostly you were taking the stuff to the surface of actual planets, but for the various space stations and airless worlds that you could take stuff to, yes that would seem more logical. Of course, nothing stopped me picking up farming equipment on a mixed-economy planet to take to another such world with more need for such gear, and instead deciding to take it to a space station orbiting a small crispy-husk type planet. Farming equipment was undifferentiated, and hauling cargo was contract-free. You just bought it in a spaceport and hauled it wherever you wanted. In extreme cases, you could be paid to take stuff away, and usually your best bet was to dump it in deep space because nobody anywhere would ever take it off your hands without you paying them. (The buggy planet that would pay you to take away gemstones and jewelry was an exception. Almost anywhere else, you could earn significant sums by selling such in the spaceport, and the buggy planet would pay just as much for you to take it away. Result! For bonus points, exploit the wormhole bug(1) and you pay a trivial amount to travel.)(1) The wormhole bug: interstellar distances were measured in increments of 0.01 light years (ly). Fuel costs for hyperspace travel were based on the distance you jumped compared to the maximum distance your ship could jump (up to about 20 ly for the most jumpy ships). Except that if you jumped more than 655.35 light years, you invoked the wormhole bug as a 16-bit number of centi-ly rolled over, so jumping 655.37 ly (or 1310.73 ly, etc.) cost the same as jumping 0.01 ly. Creative use of distant stars would allow you to jump rather large distances in two very small steps, and therefore use almost no fuel.

Could just as easily have beenunsigned int
or even just a CPU register. It was a DOS game without a DOS extender, so 16-bits was the rule unless you wentlong
.And if someone feels compelled to "whoosh" me, fine, so be it.

That's not a whoosh. If anything, that's a mild case of pedantic dickweedery.
