Proposed Feature Request: Muting Users in Discourse
-
I found a few soggy coffee grains in the bottom of my mug I can contribute to the pot.
-
and i just found out today that the esteemed @codinghorror has confirmed that this feature is slated for discourse 1.3!
https://meta.discourse.org/t/ability-to-block-or-mute-another-user/6001/51?u=accaliaI HAS A HAPPI!
-
It's a Civilized Mute, too!
Do you have to type "Please" to activate it? Does it send a courtly message to the muted user apologizing for the muting? INQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW!
-
well the OP in this post has (or had, it is a wiki and things happen) the spec of the mute feature as i proposed. not sure how it's going to be implemented though.

not sure how it's going to be implemented though.
Knowing Discourse, it won't be quite what you expect, it'll work in a weird way, and trigger a whole slew of new bugs and regressions. It'll be fun!

It'll probably work like the spoiler tags. You'll see the muted users' posts, and then at some point between 1 and many DiscoSeconds later, the muted post will disappear and as it does so re-shuffle page layout and you'll lose your place.

i hope not. the spec i proposed explicitly said that the only thing that would be muted was notifications.....
