Meth is hard, lets go shipping

Continuing the discussion from 1 hour to test intern's mettle:
I mathed a program once, while on math. Or meth.
Something like that.
And not just for @darkmatter!
She was finally released Thursday after tests on the substance proved it wasn't meth — and showed that it was in fact, as she'd claimed all along, spaghetti sauce.
-
To be fair, you'd have to be on meth to look that old at age 23.
-
Yeah really... what a woofer.
Also good is the related story:
-
....
is burglar butt-dial bungling the new in thing or something??
-
A Georgia woman was mistakenly jailed for one month after cops confused her SpaghettiOs for meth.
- Lawsuit.

what a woofer.
Oh, look! It's a misogynist! Can we keep it mum, please please please please please please I'll feed it and take it for walks and please please please...
-
Oh, look! It's a misogynist!
Nah, he probably just hates redheads. Is there a hip term for that sort of thing?
-
Dunno, never been hip.
-
Nah, he probably just hates redheads. Is there a hip term for that sort of thing?
I'm married to one.
Of course I hate them.
-
Oh, look! It's a misogynist!
It's misogynist to think a single girl is ugly and call her a name that means fugly?
I assume it is also racist to think Obama is dumb and call him an inept fool?
-

Experience tells me you're going to lose this.

Oh, man. I hope she doesn't read this site.
-
Experience tells me you're going to lose this.
Oh I know. Doubly funny because I don't think he's an outright fool myself, but I also don't think people that do are racists for thinking it. They may actually be racist, but comments on a single person do not make enough evidence to jump to that conclusion.
Throw in a couple of "they"s instead of "he" or "she" and it's a whole different story.
-
I'll just jump in here to say that I concur with Boomzilla on this one.
But your "racist" statement was a total straw man, regardless of the colour of the straw you used to build it.
-
The specific example I gave was entirely irrelevant, as pointed out by my last post.
But if you want to go that route, then your classification of me as misogynist due to the use of the word woofer is an ad hominem attack designed to downplay my credibility to make the assertion that she's fugly.
-
It's misogynist to think a single girl is ugly and call her a name that means fugly?I assume it is also racist to think Obama is dumb and call him an inept fool?
Seriously? There's an emoji for a trolley bus but not for popcorn? On this site?
-
I figured @boomzilla would be thrilled, since I'm stirring the other side's pot for a change.
-
On this site?
the site is irrelevant, we just have the default emoji package and last I asked about custom delete/adding them, @pjh doesn't have much control over it.
-

This kind of bugs me, since the set of emoticons here already has some extra stuff added (on top of the basic Apple/EmojiOne set). Why have a handful of custom emoticons without the ability to add more?
-
@tufty is just mad because that's his babies momma.
(I don't think I got the phrasing on that right.)
-
-
I love ginger on my sushi. Or is that supposed to be the sushi of a ginger. Whatever.
-
since the set of emoticons here already has some extra stuff added
No. Jeff just found this free emoji set behind some dumpster. Nobody was using it so he took it home and put it inside Discourse.
-
Or is that supposed to be the sushi of a ginger.
You're the specialist on the ginger sushi. Mine comes in a darker package.
-
Nah, he probably just hates redheads. Is there a hip term for that sort of thing?
Idiot?
-
Why don't we have a @StrawBot for any time that someone mentions the straw man argument?
-
Why don't we have a @StrawBot for any time that someone mentions the straw man argument?
What would it do? Attempt to detect a straw man argument, or scream "Ahhhh! I'm on fire!" when invoked?
-
What would it do? Attempt to detect a straw man argument, or scream "Ahhhh! I'm on fire!" when invoked?
Sure, why not? I just can't take anyone that says "straw man argument" in serious context as anything but foolish. I seriously laugh when I read it.
-
I find it a useful shorthand so I don't have to explain why I'm not going to bother to try to counter it.
-
Unfortunately the word is used incorrectly to counter basically every argument that has ever happened on the internet.
In the case here, I was calling the entire "generalizing individual comments as wholesale racism/misogyny/misandry/whateverism" a stupid thing to do.
-

That's a straw man argument for calling out the straw man argument!
-
wow, it's straw men all the way down....
-

On the rare occasions I use that word, you may rest assured I used it correctly.
If it helps, picture me saying that like that picture of Lois Lerner with her nose snootily in the air. It won't be correct but it might be funny.
-
That's a straw man argument for calling out the straw man argument!
[Fry "not sure if..." macro goes here, sans text.] There's something wrong with that, but when I squint to try to figure it out, I get an eyelash in my eye, and it hurts, so I stopped doing that.
-
I figured @boomzilla would be thrilled, since I'm stirring the other side's pot for a change.
I was too shocked by @tufty apparently thinking that I agreed that he was justified in calling you a misogynist. I thought your racism analogy was as absurd as his misogynist remark.
-
I just can't take anyone that says "straw man argument" in serious context as anything but foolish. I seriously laugh when I read it.
That doesn't make it wrong to call people out when they seriously torch a straw man.
-
It's misogynist to think a single girl is ugly and call her a name that means fugly
Look, the problem here is not just your specific words, but also the context in which they were placed.
The first post in this thread linked to a story where a person was wrongly arrested on meth charges and held for two days by police.
The second post contained a suggestion that due to the person's looks, it was actually fair for police to assume that the person was a meth-head.
To be fair, you'd have to be on meth to look that old at age 23.
Now, it could be argued that this was tongue-in-cheek, and that @mott555 realized how bad people always look in mug shots, and was making a funny about that. Still kind of shit, imo, but you, on the other hand, definitely took it too far by replying
Yeah really...
And turning this thread into some kind of men vs woman shitfight by refusing to get outraged by the wrongful incarceration of an innocent citizen – on a site that is 100% centered around getting outraged about this kind of stupidity – because, in your words
what a woofer.
Fuck you.
-
Here, this one has a little bit of everything:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-sperm-donor-lawsuit-met-20140930-story.html
A white Ohio woman is suing a Downers Grove-based sperm bank, alleging that the company mistakenly gave her vials from an African-American donor, a fact that she said has made it difficult for her and her same-sex partner to raise their now 2-year-old daughter in an all-white community.
-
-
I...can't understand what you're trying to say here. But I suppose that's to be expected when you quote crazy people.
-
Fuck you.
By your overreacting sense of injustice, I can only assume you must be a woofer too then.
@Buddy said:on a site that is 100% centered around getting outraged about this kind of stupidity
The cops are terrible programmers who've made a living hell of the woman's work life by creating spaghetti code? The closest thing to spaghetti code was the sauce on her spoon, so if there's anything we should be outraged about, it's that the spoon was never refactored.
So why did I make that flippant remark? Sure, she's not very attractive to me. But add in that she was doing something suspicious enough to get arrested by the cops as a meth head. Also, if you read TFA, she was jailed for 30 days not because of her spaghetti spoon, but because the she was too incompetent to show up for her court-ordered drug counseling. Last, she was apparently driving around in a car full of dirty silverware (that last thing plus being from Georgia is getting pretty close to wooferdom all by themselves).
The real travesty is that it apparently takes SEVENTY FUCKING FIVE DAYS to test a substance as meth in Georgia, which has to be right behind Tennessee in the running for meth capital of the world. Really?
Clearly the cops are morons though, because no one on meth could have stood having a car so filthy that there is dirty silverware laying in it long enough to bake on spaghetti sauce.
-
-
Nice, so you can't read either? The "your" in "By your overreacting sense of justice" is perfectly correct, my good moron.

Oh hey, a REAL article about the incident, from the local paper: http://www.gainesvilletimes.com/m/section/6/article/104844/
From the sounds of it, she probably was a meth head, she just didn't happen to have enough actual meth on her for them to get anything more than a field-test positive off the spoon. She probably got lucky that the spoon got re-used for eating her spaghetti-Os and so she had consumed most of the evidence. There was definitely probably cause for the initial arrest, and her 30+ days in jail were all her own fault for giving a fake name and later skipping her counseling.
Gainesville police provided The Times with the arrest report this week, the result of a traffic stop for a tag light violation.
The officer’s report states he received consent to search Huff’s 1994 Ford Explorer, and searched a bag with the name “Ashley” printed on it. The officer described Huff, a passenger, as “nervous,” noting sores on her face, arms and legs. Inside the bag was a spoon with a “clear, crystal-like substance,” according to the report.
Huff disputes the claim, saying it was orange SpaghettiOs spaghetti sauce, as she told the officer in the police report.
“I found it strange that she would eat SpaghettiOs with a metal spoon while riding in a vehicle, and then put the spoon back in a bag,” the report reads.
The officer reported he found a glass smoking device in the bag as well before conducting a field test for methamphetamine.
“I tested the spoon with a field test kit, and the crystal-like substance on the spoon showed a positive indication for methamphetamine,” the report reads.
...
After missing a pretrial hearing, Huff said she gave Jackson County police a false name, leading to 13 days in jail. Huff was reincarcerated in the Hall County Jail on Aug. 2 for a Superior Court arrest order and could not afford bond, her public defender Chris van Rossem said.

Fox Butterfield, is that you?

So...TRWTF is the field test?

Or not licking the spoon clean before sticking it in her purse.

Yeah, I love Spaghetti-Os.

I was too shocked by @tufty apparently thinking that I agreed that he was justified in calling you a misogynist.
No, I was agreeing with your "don't go there" comment. I knew you'd jump in with some super-right-wing claptrap. After all, mentioning Obama is rather like facing a mirror and saying "Boomzilla Boomzilla Boomzilla"
-

I just meant that the zeitgeist is currently in favor of that sort of logic, at least among your sort of leftist group thinkers who seem to be in charge of the media these days. I'm fully in favor of going there to call out that sort of brain dead bullshit.
