Bot Duel!

Thought I had TBH. I think the initial stealth mention failed somehow.

I'm somewhat dissapointed by @CodingHorrorBot - no links to random blags.

Expanding on the code directly stolen is a work in progress - unfortunately randomly closing Bug topics is out of scope.

Well, we could always petition PJH to give the bot mod privileges... (Yes, yes, that thread is that way )

@AnonymousTDWTFer final test.
If this works, you should be able to post anonymously by mentioning @AnonymousTDWTFer

How? @CodingHorrorBot @SignatureGuy @SockPuppet I wonder if these still work now I am awake.
EDIT: I see @LikeBot works at least
-
Filling in for SignatureGuy, I agree with whatever @algorythmics posted just above.

Tic Tac Toe is the perpetual draw game.
I don't know whether I'm more sad that you're right or that the Wargames reference was missed.
-
I saw it, but remained silent so as not to alert the lower life forms.
-
But was it sexy silence?
-
always. sexy like a dinner plate

I love this thread. I love these bots. A bit more work and ye can replace everyone with bots. Can you make a BlakeyRantBot and a MorbsBrutalInsultBot?
-
My witticism cannot be contained by a bot, unless you can successfully say "What?", "I don't understand" and "Where's the tea?" and then who'd know the difference?
I would, of course.
Amongst the other things ArantorBot would have to do is mercilessly paraphrase Hitchhiker's Guide, Monty Python and Red Dwarf in almost appropriate circumstances.
-
A bot that could successfully find the tea would be much more welcome! Can't code without tea.
-
"Drinks machine's down the corridor, monkey-man"
Never mind that it produces something that is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.
Yes, I appreciate a good brew myself. My excuse is that I'm English.
-
the new emoji tea looks weird. At least it's better than the old one ...
-
Mine is I'm Irish and ye forced tea on us at gunpoint
the new emoji tea looks weird. At least it's better than the old one ...
The cup is almost invisible against the white background and the liquid within looks like slime. Slightly worried what the old one was like, if this is an improvement!

I think a bot should be created to follow me around and reply by quoting whatever I say and replacing any adjectives in said quote with "sexy" and the message body being only "@algorythmics TFY"
make it so.
-
for those unfortunate enough to have been born into ignorance and not know what adjectives are, probably as a result of being born in the UK and hence having no understanding of english, an adjective is a word used to describe something. for example: "sexy", "dirty", "painful", "deep", "tender", "forceful"
-
Unless it's an adverb!
Like "forcefully", "slowly" or "quickly".

Well, shit, it's only taken almost 31 years of existence for me to discover what an adjective is, seeing how I live in the uncharted backwaters of the world known as the UK.
Oh wait. That was a painful level of sarcasm, applied in a tender response to a forceful and dirty example of how not to be sexy.
Also, the irony that such a bot would almost certainly end up making a clbuttic mistake in trying to address adjectives as opposed to adverbs (and let's not get started on the other linguistic contortions like gerunds) on this site of all places...
I would appreciate the beauty of that irony, however, as well as the amusement I would derive from such a bot on this site, but I lack the elemental force of desire to make it so, because while I have been known to quote Shakespare on occasion with a sexy English voice, I'm not Patrick Stewart.

TalkieToaster(Bot)?
-
CardinalFangBot who is completely based on a PRNG and occasionally pops in with "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
-
this is going to be a feature of SockBot now. That's too funny to ignore.
either that or have it follow @CardinalFangBot and quote Don Qixote at him
-
CardinalFangBot who is completely based on a PRNG and occasionally pops in with "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
"occasionally" = "whenever a post contains the word 'expect'"
-
spawn monty.py expect "the spanish inquisition" send "our chief weapons are ..." # ...

I approve of all of the Monty Python related humour.
As for TalkieToaster bot, we don't want any toast...

Fail. I put a sleep(6) in the main loop to try to prevent the "Too Many Requests" thing but they only respond once, and they may crash out on that first response too.
