Just sharing this.

No, it's all made up forums with fake content. You could always spend a few minutes of your life checking out http://www.forumwarz.com/
Imagine a forum as an RPG monster. Each forum has its own quirks. You choose one of a list of attacks to use and the 'posters' on the forum attack back. It's amusing at times.
-
I would have but there's no way to do that without clicking a few times.
-
Meh I have about a billion more entertaining games to play. I'm sure that's a big hit among bored 15-year-olds.
-
Thanks for the warning I've deleted my post.
Thanks for notifying us. I know that had to be at least a couple of clicks.
-
It amused me as a 25 year old.
-
25 year olds can play Skyrim.
-
I was playing ForumWarz before Skyrim was a thing.
-
Before Skyrim was a thing, Oblivion was a thing. Before Oblivion was a thing, Morrowind was a thing. Before Morrowind was a thing Daggerfall was a thing.
Elder Scrolls has always been a thing. Always.
Now let me insult eviltrout's work in peace already, geez.
-
I dunno, I didn't really get into Elder Scrolls.
-
I'd never even heard of daggerfall. I thought it started at morrowind.
-
And before Daggerfall was another game, possibly called Arena but I CBA to look it up to be sure what it was called.
-
APPARENTLY IT'S THE SECOND CHAPTER?!
Oh. Hey. They finally got around to removing the unicode shenanigans for all caps.
-
Doesn't help that most people don't call out the full name (including sequel number). It goes:
- Arena
- Daggerfall
- Morrowind
- Oblivion
- Skyrim
-
My world has been rocked.
-
It started at Arena. Why do you think Skyrim is Elder Scrolls V and not III?
-
Same reason star wars started at IV?
-
Elder scrolls arena actually looks fucking awesome. I'm going to go look and see about getting arena and daggerfall tonight.
-
For those curious about Arena and Daggerfall...
-
Doesn't help that they don't number them.
Right, they don't number them. The V stands for "Videogame".
The IV stands for "Interactive Videogame".
The III stands for "Incredibly Interactive Intertainment". Bethesda wasn't as good at spelling back then.
Edit: I didn't remember, but looked it up and oh hey, even Daggerfall was listed as Elder Scrolls Chapter II:
The II stands for, uh, "Interesting ... Imps?"
-
Damn, I can't believe I missed Ⅰ all the way to ⅩⅠⅠ.
-
Or you could download it straight from bethseda for free...
Download links on the left.
-
Have you taken an arrow to the knee yet?
Filed under: I won't say that again.
-
Fucking Luddites. Can't even use modern goddamned numbers.
-
Yes, but some people might want to see it in action before downloading because, you know, crazy. And I thought it might be nice to share ADG because it might interest some people here.
-
I'm sticking with my starwars theory.
-
Goddamned, now I am stuck in this boring 2 hour meeting and I've never wanted to play Skyrim more in my life you fuckers.
-
I want to play arena and daggerfall =( You're an asshole because I can't play for another 8 hours or so, and I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE FUCKING GAMES EXISTED BEFORE TODAY!
-
Goddamned, Daggerfall is the reason I don't have a college degree. Well, and Tribes. Well, and Eternal Struggle MUD. Well, and MechWarrior 4. Well, and persistent depression.
But still.
Does anybody remember that FPS fantasy game where you could turn into a hulking beast or a tiny rat-like creature? I played the shit out of it and I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. Released around 1997ish?
Well, and Wizardry 8.
-
this prompted someone to say "Excellent", followed by a picture of Burns
I will admit credit for this.
-
There are two candidates for that:
Or:
-
Hm it's got to be the second, I remember spaz-guy on the game cover, but for some reason I thought it had a III on it.
Now I must find and replay it.
-
There's actually a Lands of Lore 3
-
-
Does Lands of Lore 3 also fit the description? i.e. have a big hulking monster form and also a tiny rat-like form?
It might have been 3 I played. I remember it was in a series but I hadn't played any of the others in the series.
-
Reading the Wiki article, I distinctly remember the Draracle, and how fucking idiotic a name that was
-
Try the first one. It's the best.
-
I don't remember LoL3 having shapeshifting as a game mechanic.
-
Only if you like games like Eye of the Beholder, i.e. dungeon crawlers with fixed movement patterns.
-
Meh. I mean I liked Might and Magic and pre-3D Wizardry games back in the day, but whenever I go back to replay them I find them almost intolerable. The 3D ones, Morrowind, Wizardry 8, Ultima Underworld, etc, hold up much better.
-
Eye of Beholder is unplayable for me because it doesn't have an automap. So you're expected to pull out pen and paper or open an excel spreadsheet and draw it yourself. Some people like that, but it's not for me.
-
One game I really dug was Wizard and Warriors (the PC game from 1999ish, not the earlier NES game.) Shame it's almost entirely forgotten. I made a futile attempt to get it running on Windows 7 a few months ago, but then again it barely ran in Windows 98 which was current when it was released.
Buggy fucking game. But fun.
-
The hell I am!
-
I never played RPG-s back when I was a kid. Funnily enough, I didn't understood at all what they were about. Regular RPG-s weren't a thing in my circles, so all these ideas about character progression and such were unknown. I clearly remember thinking that these games were like crappy point & click adventures or simple strategies, and just not getting it at all.
The first time I "got" what an RPG is was with the first Fallout. And that took a couple of tries as well ("what's this, like UFO, but with one character?")...
-
The big problem with Wizard and Warriors is that they chose some moronic video format for the interaction with the town maps. If you don't have that particular codec you're shit out of luck.

Ah yes, I played that at some point. I think I got it running on W7 at the time.
-
I had fun with SSI's gold box games like Pools of Radiance and such.
Those were the days when beating the copy protection consisted of having access to a photocopier
Wizardry 6's protection I had to copy by hand, though - black symbols on dark brown background...

Stupid blur spoilers don't make the gif they have any safer, sadly.

You guys are having fun, but I'm mighty worried here!
Is @eviltrout here to spy on us? To troll us? Inquiring minds need to know!
