The compose panel is a barrier to the sandwich menu ()
-
Yes, it's irrelevant and easily fixed. But I thought I'd mention it anyway.
-
Someone has a very small "display" if you know what I mean.
-
I like to think I have a rather large compose window, tyvm.
-
Overcompensating for something?
-
First time I'm actually looking at this menu. The bubbles with the number of unread posts everywhere are just… awful…
-
Those are new. I kind of like the bubbles.
-
Bie sûr que in real Discarse fashion they are not really showing what is new or unread ...
-
The hamburger bubbles are only filled at page load while suggested topics is kept up to date ...
-
They seem up-to-date-ish to me

Well read some stuff and they'll go away....
-
The point is that I'm now glad that I never open that menu anyway. Really.
-
ZOMG...there's a "Keyboard Shortcuts" item!

It's definitely an improvement upon having keyboard shortcuts that you only knew about if you knew about them, like having a keyboard shortcut to open the keyboard shortcuts menu.
Still kinda lame IMO.

In what way? That's the first actual bit of (discoverable) helpful help they've put into Discourse. Unless they updated the default FAQ to be an actual FAQ.
I mean, yeah, lame that it took them so fucking long, but not lame in and of itself.

I dislike the entire premise of keyboard shortcuts on websites.

I dislike the entire premise of keyboard shortcuts on websites.
I like Konami code easter eggs on websites, a modern Web 2.0 feature notably missing from Discourse.
-
Also, never take anything for granted. A keyboard shortcut that you actually know such as Ctrl-F may be fucked up in ways you would have never imagined before.

Exactly. I can't rely on any fucking thing to behave how it does anywhere else on the intarwebs.

Especially when Jeff quotes Google at us for some of the stuff he does because other large sites do exactly the same thing.
Sorta.
Discourse insert link into post - CtrlL
Gmail insert link into post - CtrlK
Discourse mark text as code - CtrlKGetting one's head around this is left as an exercise for the reader.

I like to think you need a bigger monitor. Something more than 600px high.

FTFY
IMO, the proper fix would be
Discourse mark text as code - CtrlC

"Discourse mark text as code - CtrlC"

Those bubbles definitely do not make me want to stab myself in the eyeballs.
-
Why didn't I notice that F3 actually works properly until now?!
-
Taking things further!
-
Well don't let the Dicsourse devs know that, otherwise they'll hijack it too.
-
Hey, thanks for the session id!
-
You life saviour!

You're welcome~
Although, keep in mind that searching with your browser's search only kind of sort of works. You can find more information about that in some old posts on here.
-
I was kidding, I'll obviously be using the great search feature of discourse. It's been implemented by a capable open source team led by a developer whose clear vision helped build the best developer forum called Stackoverflow.

Just curious: how many times did you have to stop and laugh while typing that up?
-
You mean cry?
-
That would also be a valid response. Same question: how many times did you have to stop while typing that up?
-
Hmm twice I guess, to put the markdown highlighted words.

To me, the fact that the menus losing focus doesn't close the menus is actually really annoying (IE: Middle mouse click, regular mouse click anywhere on the page outside of the header area.)
-
Holy fuck, I didn't know that hotkey existed. Thank you.

The menu closes when I click elsewhere and in particular when I open a reply.
What I took a screenshot of was the menu opening behind an already open compose panel.

Well, I only have one of those, so it's either a problem with her or with me.

Someone's a closet Time Lord?
-
Or, a Galliefrean that has not yet died, but will become a Time Lord once he does.Ehm. I meant, how about that sports event, eh?

-
Uh ... no?
I just felt like a big red heart would be too overly affectionate. So two little pink hearts seemed to be more appropriate..?Also ... if that's a Doctor Who thing ... well ... I never watched it and know almost nothing about it!
-
Damn. I was hoping for a chance to travel through time and space.

There's your choices.
