Closed Poll: Do you have Discourse Syndrome
-
Not to mention, any attempt at mixing a dragon and a seagull would crush the seagull.
You mean like this?
-
Erm... it was the cat! The cat ate my glasses!
That seems unsafe. A seagull ... keeping a pet cat. Nah. No problems there. Moving on.

Cats are intelligent creatures, they know what the beak of a seagull can do to them.
-
Yeah, but will only keep them at bay while you're awake ...
-
Then hopefully in due time we would see plenty of young dragons.
Probably still too tough for a simple seagull to get at on his own.
That's fightin' talk!
vs
FIGHT!
-
-
We already did that the other day. @abarker and @the_dragon against poor \me.
Who won?
-
FLAWLESS VICTORY!
-
-
\me, obviously. I'm still alive, am I not?
I can't help but notice that @the_dragon and @abarker also seem to be alive.
-
Playthings. You don't destroy nice toys.
-
No "FINISH HIM!" moves?

No "FINISH HIM!" moves?
I suddenly remember who had been supporting @abarker @the_dragon with his air rifle during the fight...
-
FIGHT!
I love it how, at least with current avatars, they look at each other. Pretty vicious looks too.
Also, FTFY
-
Did I say it was my air rifle or indeed that I was firing at anyone in particular?
-
-
I'm on mobile, so I don't wanto look up the exact post.
-
Nice find!
-
I found the post and as suspected I merely said I was standing guard with an air rifle.
-
Great, so now I have to become a bald eagle? You couldn't find a picture of a gold eagle with a dead seagull?

Preferably drinking coffee from the TDWTF mug?

As you are avatar changer, you can change yourself again. LIke that girl from X-MEN, a movie I did not like. Also I did not like TRANSFORMER movies. They were terrible.

@Nagesh, please stop saying things that I agree with.

You are free to like them as much as you please.

Ok. Since I can't see if your post is a reply (which, according to @codinghorror is by fucking design), I'll grant you the licence of doubt.

Unfortunately you're losing this battle if you're just a golden eagle...
-
Oh snap it's really got you now
-
Ooops. Nevermind, you still win.
-
+1000! A Picture is indeed worth a 1000 likes!
-
Bah, looks like just a pidgeon to me.
-
Appears to be at a beach though, or at least some waterfront.

Reverse google searching doesn't agree with you. It does however suggest the following image as related:
-
That's just a juvenile bald eagle. Try again. Plus, the seagull looks to be hitching a ride, more than anything.
Edit why does the editor keep wanting to put sounds at the end of that's? I've taken it out twice now.
-
Although that's not a golden eagle, +42!
-

Weakening the enemy by providing extra weight while at the same time conserving one's own energy? That could be from Sun Tzu. Or Hanzo's "Book of Five Rings".
-
Seeing as there isn't a seagull, and it's not a golden eagle, I fall to see the relevance.
-
This discussion is going to get pretty weird looking when @abarker changes his avatar to a pygmy whale or something.
-
That'll be a long time coming. I've got a lot of other avatars to work through first.
-
Killed a good 10 minutes reading that entire blog.

Does feeling like the other forums you visit (including the one mentioned in my profile) should really get a like button and jumpable quotes count as a symptom of Discourse Syndrome?
Or is that just an indicator that they use outdated software?

The latter, I think. Discourse is, in a way, state-of-the-art of 2014. AJAX driven, social interaction like "like" buttons etc. Nothing bad with that. What is bad is a) that with Discourse you have the feeling that all those fancy ajaxy things are its raison d'etre, that at design time somebody was looking at modern software and got into a "oooh, fancy, want, want, want!" fit without giving much thought to how these things would interact with the purpose of the software, i.e. driving a community.
And b) that so many things in Discourse are broken either by design or by what occassionally looks like a rather amateurish approach to software development.
Filed under: Nice profile background, btw. My eye focus gets all screwed looking too long at it

That should be a poll!

Feature request: Somehow fit , , , and into this UI...
1/4 of the way there!
Legitimate necrotoaster.

Speaking of Discourse syndrome... I take a couple of months out to get my life a bit more sorted out and stabilised... come back and find Discourse is - shockingly - not as fragile as before. At least it is now, I can see it wasn't a few weeks back.
-
not as fragile as before
We've moved from nightly to beta ... less updates so the bugs are more stable too ...

AAaaaaaaaaaaaaah, so it's not that Discourse is any more stable itself, merely that we see break it less. This I approve of.

Given the quality of the current experimental stuff, I don’t think anything has actually improved.

Exactly, it's not any more stable, we just see it break less by the time it gets to us.
