Wanted: Real software review website
-
I'd really like a real software review site. Something like IMDB for software...
IBM Remedy - bloated crap. Slow webservices, Wsdls do not match backend webservices. Website consists of a single page which passes JavaScript strings to and from the backend.
IBM Notes - bloated crap. Terrible UI, Nonsensical icons, non-standard keyboard shortcuts, etc...
Is there anything like that?
-
LotusNotesSucks.com
or Google: [name of software] sucks
-
The problem is writing reviews like that actually requires using the shitty software for an extended period of time, and I'm not willing to do that.
-
I don't think this is 100% what you're looking for, but check out http://www.g2crowd.com/

Since I noticed IBM as a common theme above - though it's old and dated now, this site was always amusing.

IIRC, IBM (and Lotus Notes apps) had quite a few entries in various places.

Every software will have bed reviews, so does that make all software bad?

Wasn't very soft then, was it?

Wasn't very soft then, was it?"Oracle provided a luxury surface for resting one's bones. However, every 15 minutes or so a security guard would approach and roust me and I'd have to move on to another part of the sprawling complex. Around 3:00am I was awoken again by the Oracle security guard, who had brought his friends Java and SAS. They proceeded to beat me until I was bleeding from my ears. Then they stole my bindle to feed their boating habit.
Still, less degrading than using Postgres. Rating: 21 out of 40 winks"

That sounds funny!

This is my current methodology, but the problem wih this is that the first 50 pages of results are usually marketing garbage.

I enjoy using Beyond Compare and Sublime Text. But I do not use either exclusively.
What are the legal issues involved?

And I'm Ben L.

WTF? I say I enjoy software and I get banned???
Lets be clear don't fucking download either of these programs on my account. Meld is also a great diff tool and I use it. Notepad++ also a great product.
I just wanted to make a statement explaining that not all software out there is complete shit.
......and if I was a spammer wouldn't I fucking link to the software? Are you people so harassed and so dubvious that actual good software exists that anyone making a statement that something is somewhere about the complete shit mark that it becomes a suspicious statement?

Yes.

Are you sure you were banned and didn't just forget your password? Because I think even people who are banned can still login.

I checked, and the user "asdf323" has not been banned or anything. I think it's something else.

My habit is to revoke posting rights in addition to banning.

What exactly does banning do?

Revokes their login rights I believe. I cant find 'revoke posting rights' in the options myself; the closest I can find is 'Hide this user's posts from regular members', or 'moderate posts', the latter of which didn't appear to do anything when I played with it last.@bstorer said:

This is now the Community Server slogan thread.
I'll start
Community Server: all this and more comes standard. standard and nonfunctional.
