What are your ways of handling common cold?
-
My idea is to inhale lot of steam and then rub vicks on chest and nose. Also take vitamin-c suplement tablets.
-
Wait it out. You can't heal it.

That is old saying, but truth is that cold could be sign of something big like neumonia or dengue fever. Best start taking muscle relaxant like vicks and rest. If it won't cure, at the very least, it will provide much needed relief. Also zinda tilismath work very well.

I moved my brain into a robot body to prevent common colds.
Unfortunately the robot body was Twiki.
Bidi-bidi-bidi.
-
Pseudoephedrine-based drugs and sleep where possible.

You sound like that German-accented doctor that one of the guys on Car Talk tells about: "It could be nothing. Or you could have a brain tumor!"

A mix of Sudafed (Decongestant), Dexadrine (Amphetamine), and Prednisone (Steriod) pretty much lets you ignore a cold/flu.
Also makes you temporarally psychotic (speaking from experiance.) Also pretty sure it would let you get through a polygraph(lie detector) with no results.
-
I find the best way to avoid cold and flu symptoms is to cut off your head and then re-attach it once the sickness goes away.
-
Take a triple dose of vitamin c and eat a really hot curry.

I tried one of the phenylephedrine-based drugs last week to get over a cold. Massive fail. I have to drive further to get the pseudoephedrine drugs.

Agreed. If they do work, they work for 20 minutes max.Apparently studies have been done and show that more often than not the phenylephrine based ones are no more than a placebo.Pseudoephedrine-based drugs and sleep where possible.

I think you're confusing it with phonylephrine.

Bah. I just go with 700mg of Windows.

Handling a common cold? That's disgusting. You get snot all over your hands.

I cough and sneeze a lot and that does the trick because a few days later I'm all better again

You can laugh all you like. I got the common cold since last Friday. This weekend I did my coughing and sneezing and today I'm feeling already a lot better. Who's laughing now?@Nagesh said:

My own cure is to take a steaming hot bath while drinking a large glass of single malt whiskey (other spriiots should be equaly effective)
I believe this attacks the cold on multiple fronts
1) The steak helps open the Airways (as already suggeted)
2) A Virus does not like heat so raising the body temperature helps to destroy i.
3) Alcohol is a poison so khelps to kil the Virus
4) If 1-3 dont work provided the glass is big enough you no longer care :-)

Doh , fat fingure syndrome strikes again (or the whiskey)

You're victim of poor science. Viruses thrive on alcohol. Alcohol only kill bacteria unless bacteria is french in that case the bacteria make wine from sour grape.

Good call. I've had similar success with brandy

Whiskey steam? Vapourised malt? Inhaling... ooooh...
Fascinating concept. Tell me more.

Why would you want to do that? The heating would cause ingredients to separate.

Oh well, in that case i dont want to be right. The cure still seems to work for me (probably due to stage 4)

I no longer interest.
Plz to be not expanding your explanation.
