@boomzilla Where's the ?

@boomzilla I can't think of another quarterback, past or present, who could have done that gag any better.

And as usual, the domestic version is a far cry from the real thing.
Whatever. 10,000 practice runs and it's still barely circular.

When you have to sue the tour you’re trying to compete with and make your events paid infomercials, you might not have had an effective launch plan.

Potential crossover with the Uncanny Valley thread!

Maybe if the actual lawyers can’t get the job done fast enough, we can win with the rules lawyers!

ALDS Game 5 is currently in a rain delay for rain that might show up in the next 15 minutes. How am I going to get my return value for my Sling subscription if the game doesn't start until bedtime?
Guess I'm going to have brown bottle flu in the morning

Ah baseball the only sport that lets a little rain stop it.

AHEM. Competitive bricklaying?

Ok, which one of you jokers is working with Kyrie Irving on experiments in how to get fired

@Applied-Mediocrity sounds terrible.

Let's count the layers of WTF in this one...
- The MLS league championship comes down to a penalty kick shootout because soccer figures that why not just break ties on a skill competition instead of playing it out like real men ()
- It was tied in large part because the LAFC goaltender committed a deliberate foul to deny what would have very likely been the game winner (go ahead goal in the second half of overtime), and the only recompense Philly got for the foul was a free kick outside the box and 10 minutes of a man advantage
- The goalie paid the iron price and broke his own leg with the challenge (not to mention whatever damage he did to the player he fouled)
- The backup goalie won the game MVP for the shootout???!!!???

not sure if the is for calling soccer players not-real-men, or saying that real men have no skill.

Name a professional soccer league that doesn't go to a shootout for games that can't end in a tie.

Do you realise how rarely goals are scored in soccer? If you wanted to do yer typical two-up tie-breaker, the match would never finish.

I mean, I'd settle for a straight golden goal endless overtime (with appropriate periodic breaks) like hockey does their playoffs.
Or, you know, just take a cheap shot at soccer and drop the mic and go watch a real sport instead.

Well, cricket is still very popular, so I don't see the problem...

More bags than ever have been rejected for the upcoming season, when random bag checks will be in place, he said. The league is also exploring “automated bag testing.”

It’s the biggest professional sports scandal you’ve never heard of.
It's rather likely I never heard of the scandal because I never heard of the sport.

Quite. Indeed, rather quite. Have some tea - tho, I can't imagine how you make it...

My trust in venality went up. It usually does.

I don't watch cricket, so I don't see the problem, either.

What a fascinating list of inactivities. I myself do not climb mountains.

Somehow this made it all the way through the editing process without anyone noticing they didn’t adjust the odds for the vig.

Editing costs money but doesn't increase clicks. By the time you find out an article is an error-filled, ungramatical mess, you've already clicked and seen (or blocked) the ads, so why edit?

Guess those virtues aren’t worth very much to signal

@izzion their "rainbow for retards" wasn't worth signalling to begin with.

@antiquarian Given that it is overwhelmingly female, with - as far as I can tell - two ambiguous exceptions... I'll just shove my sense of humour in the back pocket and keep walking.

But I mean, the contrast was very stark:
On the one side we have the players from Iran who sent a very strong signal and will likely face real repercussions back home - and then we have our whiny babies who abandon ship at the first breeze in their face.
Then again, as far as I can see, this is pretty much a non-event in Germany anyway. Which sends a much stronger signal.

@Rhywden don’t watch, don’t buy anything.
Although I doubt Anheuser-Busch is very happy not-even-selling their not-even-beer, so there’s that.
