Top left is a pain if you're not familiar with the word - and if you're in the US you might not. It's a lot more common here where it refers to the structures used in housebuilding for transferring load from floors to beams. It helps that I'd seen it before a few times.

I was...

I was tripped up by the final word (and my own stupidity) at not reading the clues I had properly.

I'd established the word as containing RUAL, and established that it was something-URA-something, likely URAL.

It took me three guesses to nail the first letter as R, even though if I'd paid attention I'd have clocked that I put in RIVAL and thus confirmed the opening as an R, instead of me burning through JURAL and AURAL to get to RURAL.

It's just been a shit day and this was a way to vent about it.
