So raise a mitigation. That's what a mitigated threat is.

Sanderson's already driven a stake through the heart of this. No need to raise it and suject it to more indignities.
Oh please. Jordan did that just fine on his own. There are several whole books which could have been handled in a single chapter. It's a wonder that Sanderson managed to get that tangled mess of storylines at least somewhat in order.

Fortunately, that actually seems moderately rare (with a few specific exceptions). I'm guessing that rewriting everything isn't done too often as that takes Actual Work.

Why do they single out open-source? Attitude to updating commercial software is no better. Worse, probably, most of the time.

There was meant to be one final book. He managed to get three out of it.

Having read what preceded the 3, I can confidently say that 3 was the bare minimum for tying up everything.
Of course, the main plot could have been dealt with in 1, and the other 2 named P.S.: What happened to the rest of them. But that doesn't sell more books.

Indeed. There's a reason why they meant to do one book but Sanderson wrote three.
I mean, Sanderson is doing just fine on his own so he did not need to do three for the sake of it. And yes, one book would have done for the main plot - and then people would be whining now how many threads were left hanging.

My understanding is that sort of. I read that there are some of his early notes and they have approximately nothing to do with the story he eventually wrote after working out the characters in more detail. But the producers caught up with him, so they picked his current notes when he was still at the drawing board flinging concepts around and ran with them.

@Bulb And, according to rumours at least, D&D were already checked out of Game of Thrones because they either had or thought they were going to get signed on to some Star Wars project, so even though HBO was throwing money at them to finish it with more seasons with more episodes, they just wanted to get it over with and move on. So we got the mess that was season 8, super compressed, badly written and shoved out the door without even making sure that the shots that ended up in the show weren't covered in Starbucks cups and plastic bottles

Not necessarily. One can suffer from, say, a disease without even being a doctor, much less an expert on that particular disease. One can die in a car accident without being an F1 driver (or even knowing anything at all about cars or driving; babies die in accidents). One can be afflicted with severe mental illness without having taken a single psychology class (although higher education does seem to increase the probability of mental illness significantly ). Being extremely weird does not necessarily qualify him as an expert on weirdness.

True. I've also, however, made specific efforts toward improved introspective and extrospective capacity with a particular focus on the error term, and made intensive long-term observations of sicko horror movies, in this case centering on Japan, the US, and Great Britain including the province of Canada. And Canadians are monsters.
