This is code for an unused HUD element in a particular video game. There’s a reasonably popular mod that gives it function, including the following change:

	file.useMetric = false
	if ( GetConVarString( "password" ) == "metric" )
		file.useMetric = true

It’s only using the most nonindicative parameter name possible, with a retarded default that isn’t even used elsewhere for the exact same information… but at least it’s some semblance of configurable??

This second snippet sounds like somebody is too lazy to set cvars in console so instead uses server password to configure the units, because server password field is so much more accessible than tilde console.
