I hate SOAP
-
Just wasted a whole fucking day trying to get SOAP from first data to work with PHP's build in SoapClient. The fucking shit keeps on telling me duplicate functions and elements. Tried that shit in java and intellij doesn't offer a way to add custom cert anywhere. I hate all those idiotic pointless and completely useless hot air marketing talk about SOAP. And while I'm at it - I have all the XML and all buzz words. Fuck. If I find out some time soon that this is my error - I'll go on a drinking spree during this Saturday's St. Patrick's day. Fuck.

Ever think it's PHP and Java? We use SOAP everywhere at my work, and everyone who does it in .Net does it fine. Those who do it in PHP always do it wrong... partially because "SoapClient" sucks. The people who write it in Java also have problems, but not as many as the people writing clients in PHP.
-
Seriously, I just needed to vent. Not expecting any response.
And to your reply - whatever

I think SOAP kind of sucks. I'd prefer Thrift or protobuf.

Since this thread isn't going anywhere interesting... what benefits does Thrift or protobuf have, and why don't you like SOAP?

SOAP is overly-complex and uses XML as a transport layer which adds some overhead (I'm sure you're aware of both of these). Thrift and protobuf are binary which make then lightweight and fast. Now, that's not a huge deal, necessarily, but it counts. The really cool thing about Thrift is that it does code generation for over a dozen languages. So you define your Thrift types, structs, service interfaces and exceptions and it then generates the respective objects for each language (structs for C, objects for Java, etc..) You can also use JSON rather than the binary protocol, if you really want to.

Since Hoboken is filled with people who've yet to outgrow they're frat/sorority lifestyle, I think that means that St. Patrick's Day is one week long, and starts on the 10th.No, I live in Hoboken, NJ.

O_o What? However, "this saturday" would still be the 3rd. At first I thought maybe NJ was still on the Julian calendar..

For whatever reason St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on first Saturday of March in Hoboken. So come by and get slammed with all the imbeciles here in all the dirty irish pubs (no offence to irish pubs outside Hoboken) with $50 cover charges and warm piss from plastic cups.
-
Apparently it's been cancelled:

And replaced by a lepricon crap.In any case, house parties and bar parties aren't cancelled.

Yea, that took me a while to remember what this email was all about. I've moved on and completely forgot this rant.

What a waste of time.
Good advice, though.
