@HardwareGeek what is so annoying with forum notifications?
Funny you should ask. I have gotten a "stuck" chat notification ( ) since we last chatted, even though I've opened and closed the chat multiple times.
In fact, I've chatted with someone else since then, but that notification is still there. And it's there even when I log in from another device.

@HardwareGeek TIL the necro banner doesn't show when the necroing is the first post on a new page
Well, yes, because it doesnât have a previous post context to compare to (because it wonât have loaded that one)

Someone said in a mysterious place beyond the open section of the forum:
I use a dark theme. This emoji is microaggressing me.
I've posted this userscript on the forum before, but oddly enough not in this topic: wtdwtf emoji inverter. TLDR, it lets you invert emojis that don't show up on dark themes (or any emoji you like, for any reason).
In this particular case, the result looks something like this:
-
I have the following custom CSS:
[...a ton of other selectors...] .emoji[data-emoji-id='soon'], .emoji[data-emoji-id='tm'], .emoji[data-emoji-id='top'], .emoji[data-emoji-id='wavy_dash'], .emoji[data-emoji-id='whoosh'] { filter: invert(1); }
But it obviously no longer matches the HTML being produced by the forum software:
<img src="https://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/emoji-one/1f51c.png?v=grn1kta83uc" class="not-responsive emoji emoji-emoji-one emoji--soon_arrow" title=":soon_arrow:" alt="đ">
I'll need to update this with new selectors.
-
@Zecc My userscript lets you do it on the fly. Maybe as an enhancement I could update it to persist to custom css instead of just its own inline stylesheet, but
-
-
@Tsaukpaetra As it is, it saves to local storage. But putting it in the custom CSS would also enable the invert effect on mobile where you can't use the userscript
-
@hungrier I've somehow managed to survive to ${now} without using any userscripts ever, so I'm not inclined to start now.
-
@Zecc Fair enough. They can be quite useful though; you should look into them if you ever have the time and motivation :running_warthog:

The call of the is strong.

How do you disable signatures?
-
@Sampa I couldn't find any ready made way in the forum settings but you can hide the signature block with custom CSS.
html:not([data-disable-tdwtf-css]) .topic .post-signature { display: none; }
-
@hungrier What's with the
:not([data-disable-tdwtf-css])
part?

@hungrier What's with the
:not([data-disable-tdwtf-css])
part?Hmm... Literally it means "All the
html
tags except ones with an attribute nameddata-disable-tdwtf-css
." I'd guess it's a way to disable the custom CSS @hungrier uses? Add that attribute to the<html>
via JavaScript or whatever and the signatures will come back. (Feel free to call me Captain Obvious.)I use Stylus (an extension) for custom CSS, but have never bothered to see how it works under the hood.
-
@Parody Captain Obvious.
-
The TDWTF CSS customisations can be disabled with this parameter on the URL, which sets that attribute
https://what.thedailywtf.com/?override_disable-tdwtf-css=brillant
-
@loopback0 it brings the round avatars back

@loopback0
Brillant!

TIL. Probably forget by tomorrow.

@Zecc said in The Official Funny Stuff Threadâ˘:
When embedding here, the video becomes gigantic for some reason
Apparently I already had a custom CSS rule limiting max-width for videos, but with vertical videos that wasn't enough:
/* limited size videos */ html:not([data-disable-tdwtf-css]) .composer .preview video, html:not([data-disable-tdwtf-css]) .topic .posts .content video, html:not([data-disable-tdwtf-css]) [component="chat/message/body"] video { max-width: 800px; max-height: 800px; }
e: You could also break out the composer preview/chat parts into their own rules, but for me this part has already been sat on by some jungle pig
