The Official Unnecessary Remake, Reboot, Sequel and Prequel Thread

I'm kind of surprised that we don't have one of these (or that I couldn't find one with search, which would be far less surprising).
Anyway, apparently the 2013 Korean movie Snowpiercer was based on a French comic book, but even more apparently they're now adapting it into a TV series
What surprised me was how many Ars commenters didn't like it, and even more surprising that Ars editor Aurich Larson posted something I agree with completely:
I enjoyed the movie. If I only I'd known I was fooling myself, and was tricked by my subconscious into liking it because it was French. But alas.
But enjoying it for what it was didn't include "wow, I really wish they'd remake this for TV". I can't imagine caring enough to watch. I mean, if everyone raves about it I won't refuse to put it in my list, but until then it's going into the instantly forgettable idea pile instead.
There are so many ideas out there that could have love poured into them, why do we have to constantly remake things that already exist instead?
-
@hungrier Also, I forgot to put this in the OP. They had initially hired the guy who directed Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, the best (or maybe the only good) Terminator related media after T2, but then got rid of him and the other guy who made the supposedly great pilot. So not only was it a dumb idea to do in the first place, but thanks to executive meddling they also potentially destroyed the good part that they had accidentally hit on.
-
Ugh, the movie sucked a TV show will be even worse.

Has anybody thought that, ever?

Really? I'd never heard of this one before now, but the premise sounds pretty bad.
-
What a horrible movie that was...
I'm looking forward to not watching this series.
-
@Parody At the time it seemed like it was universally liked by people who had heard of it, and I liked it in terms of an action movie with some interesting set pieces.
-
@hungrier
Oh, it gets plenty of acclaim and I will agree that the set pieces are amazing. But the movie itself is not something I would ever want to watch again.

-
@dcon I haven't had any desire to watch it again, but I could see myself popping it in and using the scene selection menu

So is this a thread to post about all shitty remakes ever or what? Because that's gonna be a long one.
Basically every movie since the 2000s.

I've thought that a lot of movies (often based on a book) needed something like a miniseries to treat it properly.
