Five Day Weekend!!! WOO HOO
-
It's 5:20pm on Holy Thursday. Next workday is Wednesday! We have Good Friday, then Anzac day on Monday then Easter Monday on Tuesday.
Now I have to battle the in-laws...
Do your public holidays ever line up with Easter like this? Some people were worried we might miss out on a public holiday again: if Anzac day falls on a Saturday there is no replacement holiday.

Not quite the same here, but some have been fortunate this year:
21st: Work Thurs - 'normal day' (though it's been awfully quiet on the roads today - think most have today off anyway.)
22nd: Off Good Friday
23rd: Off Sat
24th: Off Sun
25th: Off Easter Mon
26th: Work Tues
27th: Work Wed
28th: Work Thu
29th: Off Fri for some posh bint's wedding or something
30th: Off Sat
1st: Off Sun
2nd Off Mon "Early May" Bank holiday
3rd: Work Tues
3 days holiday taken can result in 11 days off (presuming you're in a 9-5 M-F job.)

Neither Good Friday, Easter, Easter "Monday" or anything like Anzac Day is a public holiday in this country. The last generally observed weekday off in the US was Presidents Day in February, and the next is Memorial Day at the end of May. (Our "Labor Day" comes in September because the 1st of May observance practiced in other parts of the world is too closely associated with Communism.)
We did get an extra three days to file our income tax returns this year because the usual date, April 15th, coincided with "Emancipation Day" in the District of Columbia.

There's only one holiday that matters. And it's today! Celebrate it!

Today is the day the machines take over in the Terminator movies.

Actually, today is the Sarah Connor Chronicles date - not the one used in any of the movies.@blakeyrat said:

One of my "Christian" friends was complaining that earth day was placed on good Friday as The most offensive thing you could to Christians. I'm thinking, WTF!? I was looking at the earth day site, it's been on 22 April since 1970, so it is Easter that moved. Easter was placed on the same day as a spring pagan festival, so that is a bit of hypocritical argument. How does the full moon affect when some dude 2000 years ago died?
