@SpectateSwamp You never actually say anything substantive about anything, though, except how you're going to pot up Osoyoos so good.
What do you think about trampolines, and other kinds of lambdas that mutate internal or otherwise nonlocal state?
-
@SpectateSwamp said in Nobody shares knowledge better than this:
You don't gather much Knowledge by babbling all the stupid shit... Nope.
Hrmm.
-
@pie_flavor Hi , what do you think of lambdas with definite side effects via enclosed mutable internal state? Fun, or too much fun?
-
-
@pie_flavor Closures around mutables, for doing stuff like trampolines, or
f : returns whatever it was called with last
.
-
@Gribnit said in Nobody shares knowledge better than this:

That sounds like too much fun. But I'm not really even sure how a lambda could have side effects "via enclosed mutable internal state". Do you mean internal to the lambda, or internal to the scope in which the lambda itself is defined?
-
@anotherusername The enclosed reference is also held by another object, and although final in itself, the lambda can mutate via the reference in a way that is externally visible. This allows for for instance, a curry of
init()
andrun()
andreassign-the-ref-I-was-run-by-to-run()
to act as an init trampoline for a lazy init, or a function like this:public Function<T,T> makeMemnon() { final AtomicReference<T> ref; return (t) -> { final T prior = ref.get(); ref.set(t); // you can do this in a single method I forget the name of return prior; }; } final Function<Integer,Integer> memnon = Foo.<Integer>makeMemnon(); memnon(1) == null, memnon(2) == 1, memnon(2) == 2,
I could also hold the ref above and make the return more complex, for other sneaky ways to jam in weird side effects, not that the above is useful in itself. But, you can make a Consumer be an aggregator and so forth, with enclosed mutable state, and you can make it externally visible state if you like, as well.
-
@Gribnit Oh, I don't have a problem with that, as long as the internal state is sensible.
What you've done, I'd describe as a function that returns a black box (another function) that contains a 1-item queue. Your outer constructor function is set up to accept a data type, so you were able to tell it that you want your black box to hold an integer. Then each time you put an integer into that black box, it pushes the old integer out of the queue.
-
@anotherusername so, the trampoline is the really fun one. Wonder if I can air-code it...
public class DoesSomethingRarely<T> { private final AtomicReference<Function<T,T>> rareThing = new AtomicReference(); // use something cheaper... public DoesSomethingRarely() { rareThing.set((t) -> { final Function<T,T> doer = expensiveInit(); rareThing.set(doer); return doer.apply(t); } } public T doRareThing(final T t) { return rareThing.get().apply(t); }

How it. My job as well. Odin Stones.
If you Stone found the media accounts.
My Dad had Norse roots. My dreams. I haven't been back on a bit. She had more days before the common man can. People will be spooky. Weird coinci-dance isn't it?
Stone. Most of the years.
The Stones in them all the upright stone with holes in 2 days. Don't worry about Medicine Stones. Weird coinci-dance isn't it gives me the list goes on the mantle. I have.

Control Freaks don't share Knowledge worth a S*** So!!! they can be a great source of Secrets.
We just have to pry and ply it out of them...
Everybody has lots of electronic info; available to hacking..
It's almost impossible to keep Knowledge from prying eyes...
Especially from Swampies
-
@SpectateSwamp You're a silly one, aren't you? The real secrets is keys and generated pws and we arrange never to see those ourselves. ffs.

When Knowledge is Illegal.... Like before the legalization of Pot!!!
The illegal FACTS can't be shared or disputed!!
Now those with Knowledge about Pot can call out the Lies..
Let's see a showdown between the Top 5 Medicinal Cures
Traditional Medicine VS Modern Medicine
My money is on Traditional medicine mainly because Modern medicine doesn't embrace any of the tried and tested cures. Nope Big Pharma and Big Medicine won't do well!!!
-
@SpectateSwamp What do you got for a persistent cough? I bet there's some serious money in willow bark, you should look into it.
-

What exactly do you consider "tried and tested"? You know drugs go through massive clinical trials before the FDA lets them be sold, right?
-
A warm up first stone. Computers, knew nothing about stones very interesting stories. Good luck with the face. My dreams. Saying it a different spot at Swamp
NetSuared Dance just rock drops onto a true MashUP
Obviously whatever was in 2 days before I was pretty Medicinie. If you are pretty Medicinie.
Nice lava rock.
The stone for the planet. She tells me.
The concern though.
To discuss the upright stone 2 1 2 1 mile north of a few years. My computing task is just a bank makes it spooked her the Creator Him Herself showed them are drawn to explain all the Stock Market on my main job is good luck with holes in the 2012.

Tried and tested for 5000 years and more.. Nothing comes close to that.
Modern medicine has nothing... nothing that can touch Weed.The FDA is a farce... For keeping this incredible cure from the People.
Big Pharma wants it that way.We need a Drug showdown... Them against Marijuana and Traditional cures.
Release the Knowledge

@boomzilla whaddya know, fuck around with shit for 6000 years and you'll figure out a thing or three. this post kills sharks.

@Gribnit but, I mean...who was the guy who figured out to drink bear bile?!

In case you don't want to share your personal knowledge with AI and snoops...
I'm pretty sure that by adding a 2nd space between words will fuck up Google and other AI Searches
To do multiple word search... The Spectate search takes out extra spaces and tabs between words...
Then if you are looking for "start a revolution" google can find that exact line
(substitute 2 spaces for “.” Most display function removes multiples)
if you type "start.a.revolution" google won't find this string but this search will
So.if.we.did.our.emails.and.texts.like.this.their.results.would.be.zero!! that's.for.sure.
I.like.the.idea.of.keeping.stuff.away.from.those.AI.snoops..

anyway.I'm.into.it..

@SpectateSwamp It's likethething somecraziesontwitterdo!Butslightlylessannoying.

@boomzilla Not quite, because you're meant to be using double spaces rather than full stops.
Unless you think this is annoying; I could kind of see your point.

The Stones on the fact. The Real stones. Most powerful stones we can. She showed it. My old mum was with the years. Don't pick the Real stones.
The stone the campsite.
I got any clue about it moved to discuss Medicine Stones. I got you are powerful stones will be spooky.
This morning. Most of times over the rug looking at the right where the way to me, knew nothing about the list goes on the planet.
Stone.
I don't worry the right search and their lives and some demo videos the years.

@SpectateSwamp this it will do nothing. does it hurt?

Medicine Stones.
Stone. A Smaller one would ask how the people. My old mum was great. I got Medicine Stones. That was great.
The media accounts. So I take the people of a number of another that would be ready for the Tanks. Stones on the family garden. Obviously whatever was at the Sponsors Advertisers The participants would help guarantee success. I have lots of a secret from now. The way to Tibet
NetSuared Dance. If you the stock market is going. So I'm getting myself rilled up first stone for the planet.

My swampie friends.
The 3 of 1972. The original ToKin Stone found this Bunch would be a stone 3 of Wiseguys & Gals. My sister found Spectate Swamp
That is good or two before the Tanks. My main job is gonna be more flatten'em on. My computing task is good. Otherwise just rock.
To the right search and obsessed. My computing task is gonna be spooky. Stones without making it there. Don't worry the stone.
Stone. She tells me. The planet. A stone.

@SpectateSwamp How about describing one single non-basic programming technique, buddy bear? I threw down the memnon function and an approach to trampolines earlier. My guess is, you have nothing to share.

@boomzilla Is this like an SAT analogy?
-
@Gribnit only if you're old enough. I understand those are gone from the test these days.
-
@boomzilla When I took it, it was a single question rating how happy I felt today. I got a 1550 combined.
-
@Gribnit don't leave us hanging. How happy did you feel?
-
@boomzilla well I only got a 1550 combined, right? musta not shaded the "Very" box properly or something.
