OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

So titled, but cannot in fact be followed. For example:
The lock is set at the manufacturer to open at 000. You can keep it as your combination or set a new one as following steps:
- Push the button in the direction of the arrow and hold it, until completing the next step.
- Release the button and rotate the dials so that your three secret numbers can't be seen.
- Turn the dials to your desired personal combination.
-
@Gribnit I wonder if they were comprehensible in the original Chinese? Probably not, but I can never be quite sure…
-
@dkf
I suspect bad copy paste from another lock's manual.Actually, I think they just messed up the order. The instruction makes perfect sense if you swap 2 and 3 around.

This is possible, but I don't understand Chinese, nor was any included. There was a diagram included - it pointed out the dials and the button, and suggested that I should "pull" on the locking clip which in fact, is pushed.

"Just" is never used correctly, and I think here it is used in a representatively incorrect fashion - how do you just mess up the order of a numbered list?
-
@Gribnit same way you
goto fail
.
-
@Gąska so I should avoid c-style error handling at all costs. gotcha.

It can often be used as a synonym for "only," so in this case, the order of the numbered list was messed up, and nothing else was done to it. Now then, it's still incorrect: the list was also re-numbered in that incorrect order.

That last bit was most likely done automatically because of the wrong order of the paragraphs. Unless, of course, this was written by someone with the mentality and technical ability of your average forum-poster.

@Gurth or there were two people involved.
Writer: *fucks up order*
Editor: Oh hey look! These two numbers are in wrong order! Lemme fix that real quick!

I notice that the original instructions are, in fact, in alphabetical order
