Ticketing System WTF

Summary: Man gets vanity plate with "XXXXXXX" as his license number. Unfortunately for him, that is what officers have been trained to put into the system if a vehicle doesn't a license plate or they don't know the license plate number. Result? Guy gets multiple tickets every day, over $19K total so far. My home state in action.

The solution is obvious, enter 70 as his license number.

According to Snopes.com, this has happened many times before.
-
Seems to happen quite often, has no one ever thought of either just leaving thefield empty or even better to add a checkbox "No Plate" ? WTF
-
TRWTF is that someone would pay for the license plate XXXXXXX. Wow, that's some real personalization there, definitely worth the $100 extra per-year. The jackass should be forced to pay every single erroneously-written ticket.

That much just for a plate ? In Germany although not that much customizable, you pay some 13€. Once.

I've heard of people paying massive amounts for private plates in the UK, up into the hundreds of thousands of pounds. Not sure if it's true but I read that the motorcycle racer Steve Parrish (who now does MotoGP commentary for the BBC) had PEN15 on his car. Also there's a BMW round here with B17TCH. Wonder if that was a present from her husband?

It is my firm belief that anyone who has the time, money and inclination to get a personalised license plate (of all things on this earth), deserves everything that happens to him.
No exceptions.

In some states, like Illinois, you can get a personalized plate for the same cost as a regular plate. "Personalized" means letters and numbers. The expensive option is "Vanity", which is all letters.
