TRWTF is that you were looking up Harry Potter videos on YouTube.
-
They probably run those ads based on your own personal viewership history. Maybe they saw that personal ad you took out.

There are ads on Youtube?? I suppose that shouldn't surprise me, but I think I've been using adblock plus since before Youtube was popular. I always forget how ad-riddled the Internet really is.
(Don't worry, Alex, I've white-listed thedailywtf.)

Increasingly, the ads are integrated directly into the Flash video itself, meaning there is no way to turn them off.

More like that you need stronger tools that can serve up dummy content for this kind of situations.

A customised flash plugin that allows overlays to be switched off by default would do the job. Wonder how the various OSS flash projects are getting along.

Oh Jesus what the fuck is wrong with you?
Do you understand ANYTHING about ads?

Ads are evil. I should be able to take content freely without giving anything back. I also should be able to piss all over the toilet seat in a public restroom because aiming is too much work!

I understand quite abit bout ads, and i don't mind them, so long as they're not flash-based, pop-ups/-unders, or don't take up more than 1/8th of a page. the ones on youtube are annoying but i can live with them.@belgariontheking said:
