Has anyone noticed any logic behind when a post is marked as "popular" and switches from the first icon to the second? I think it's around 5 posts. However, there are a lot of old threads that have zero replies that have somehow acquired the "Popular Post" icon.

Popularity is probably determined the same way phpbb2 did. By views compared to posts. In phpbb2 the ratio was 1:15. Other software probably does it the same way.

I Haven't, biut I don't tend to check all that often, so I would quite likely miss it even if there were.

I personally only respond to color/grey icons.
Has anyone noticed that the first icon dances a little for a moment?
