Sending a message to a chat room creates a notification
-
When in the chat room route (what-that-fucking-nodebb-instance-url/chats/{id}) and sending a message, a notification pops up about there being a new message.
That last message has generated that icon in the bottom left. Then I click it:
As you can see, the last message is the one I have just sent.
FUCK THIS SHIT!
Filed under: Thank you for your time.

@kt_ it's also highly inconsistent, I can't find any patterns in it, sometimes it does it, other times it doesn't. It's not being active on the forums, it's not having the chat open, it's not having multiple chats open...

Yeah, I guess the truth is, chats in NodeBB are pretty broken, still.
I hope they're gonna fix it before 2020.

Irrelevant. The way things are going, we will probably have moved to new forum software 4 times by then

Yeah. I hope we'll try out Discourse at least once more, while "forums-hopping". Just for the shits.

CLOSED_WORKS_AS_DESIGNED.
Welcome to TDWTF; absence of sense is normal, or "normal," around here.

We're that client, aren't we?
You know, the one that always has problems, and you can't even blame them, but they manage to find broken shit or break shit literally no other client ever did, and they didn't even do anything out of the ordinary.

Well, yes, except the last bit; that's not so true. We go out of our way to break stuff. We're special. Some of us are even "special."

Perhaps the only cromulent response is to create our own forum software that we can build to meet our requirements.

But who will test it? Not @blakeyrat, surely. He's ragequit.

@blakeyrat sent me a NodeBB bug report over Steam yesterday. You just aren't watching closely enough.

Good thing he didn't use snail mail and a wooden table.

@ben_lubar so he's either lurking while logged out, or he has an alt.

I suppose NodeBB just magically knows when he was last online, then?
-
@ben_lubar huh, that's new because sometime over the weekend I looked at that and it said something like "29 days ago" at which point I figured he was gone and not coming back.
-
@Arantor NodeBB isn't very good at updating that field of the profile if you don't do something that writes to the database.

yes

Another thing that "Discourse did it better."
