I think someone mentioned this example before, but I can't find it via discosearch. This xkcd forum topic is currently at 92311 posts, or 3208 "pages", if you will. It's been growing for over two years, and has several new posts today. The site is quite responsive, even with most posts containing images. No "likes" though, maybe that's the problem here. /s

Stupid "bug" emoji is a caterpillar: . Not a true bug. Have to use or ļ.
A moth would be nice, though.

RE: Whats with all the notifications:
Is meta informed about this?
I look forward to reading that bug report on meta: "We tried to jeff some posts, sometimes it took multiple jeffing attempts before they were actually jeffed, and then when users got jeff notifications about them, they linked to where the jeffed posts were jeffed from, not to where they were jeffed to!"

Just look it up in the Yellow Pages.

RE: Poop Adobe Poop
So the name of the application is Adobe Adobe Resource Manager?
No longer sure... It might be Adobe Adobe Reader Manager. So you can update the reader for your files in Portable Document Format format.

RE: Questions for the electronics geeks.
A PC power supply conversion can work, for some uses. It's a fun project, but might not give you everything you need for your eventual needs. Main limitation is that it won't deliver high amp output. So you get 12, 5, and 3.3 volt outputs, but only for fairly low loads.
I did one a few years ago. I don't remember what site I used for instructions, but here's something that looks similar: http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Computer-ATX-Power-Supply-to-a-Lab-Power-Supply

Bug causes crash.
Crashing three quadcopters at once – 00:11
— Benjamin VedderFrom Youtube desc: "A bug in the code dealing with the 802.15.4-communication between the copters caused the CAN-bus to freeze on all copters for two seconds. This, combined with another bug that was not visible before, made all of them give full throttle at once."

Do mid-thread polls work here now?

- Yes (thanks to zogstrip?)
- No

Edit: nope, not yet.

RE: Jeff Atwood on security (blog post)
And he has a business based on Discourse, which pays his and other devs' bills.
Does it? Don't know if they're profitable yet...

Why would you wait to get paid if the company is offering a bounty?
He was imagining that people might hold on to a bug and enter it in a yearly contest. He mentions pwn2own earlier.

RE: Anonymous Posting
Wasn't there something about "private"
This thread, for one: https://meta.discourse.org/t/change-private-message-to-message-individual/26795
-
RE: Anonymous Posting
From Sam:
Mainly commenting about the "burning".
But there's pushback against the "single anon account" idea, since it makes it hard to track a conversation. Jeff was strongly against that when it was discussed previously.
-
RE: Anonymous Posting
I wondered about that, too. There's a bunch of anonymous* names that came in with the import.
-
RE: Anonymous Posting
Sure, and take anonymous1 thru anonymous999999 while you're at it, make Discourse work to find a usable one.
-
RE: Anonymous Posting
I think anonymous accounts that have a post history aren't really anonymous. What's the difference between that and a regular account, except for the name starting with "anonymous"? The only difference is that there's presumably another "real" account that the same user posts from. It's not much different than getting an alt account.
-
RE: Anonymous Posting
It's Discoanonymous
Yeah - I don't think it's anonymous at all to admins. Anon posts can still get flagged, admins could ban your real account. (Your anon posts are from your real account, just masked for display, I think.)
-
RE: Anonymous Posting
This is not even the right feature
This is the kind where you can still see a list of each anonymous user's posts. Not sure if that's the kind we'd want here, if we even want it at all. I don't really see the need for it. Posted because I thought the join-date hole was funny.
-
RE: Anonymous Posting
We already have it here.
Says @accalia... (or maybe not, but it's a high-probability guess.)
-
Anonymous Posting
Discourse is testing anonymous posting on meta, it's immediately found to be not anonymous:
If they get it working, do we want it here?
