Hard to believe: you can live for some 2 years in a noble hotel without paying. And after a new manager took over, the "guest" just moves into a different noble hotel.
But eventually, he gets prosecuted:

Are they hijacking the https connection to display that or are they showing the banner in the browser chrome?
Anyway, more proof that the billion € fines for anti-competitive behavior were not high enough.

The trouble is, to a first approximation, nobody but reptiloids runs for office.

And I wonder if the misnomer is intentional on their part, because they don't really run. They slither, crawl, creep, sneak and worm their way there.

Eh. Bond is lowbrow swill in any case. Given also that you have expressed no opinion as to the best Quartermain, there is no substance here for dispute.

@DogsB said in In other news today...:

Of course the count of six depends upon the "canonical" Bond films.
As someone pointed out not long ago, two of the six (Moore and Craig) are English, and two (Lazenby and Brosnan) aren't British.

Meaningless Group Complains About Beer Commercial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdd2UtU3gJU
TL;DW: Anheiser Busch complained about a Coors commercial (which hasn't aired in 6 months) in which an unnamed beer that looks vaguely like Bud Lite is compared to water, with the slogan "We think light beer shouldn't taste like water." They complained to the NAD of the BBB, which found that this not merely an opinion, but rather is a "measurable claim of fact" but not supported by any evidence that any other light beer does, in fact, taste like water. The BBB is not a "regulator" or "agency"; they have no legal authority. The worst thing they can do is tell potential customers that you're not a nice business. Oh, they can also refer the ad to the FTC for investigation, which is something that absolutely anyone can do: ftc.gov; have fun. FTC does have legal authority to act on false or deceptive advertising, but "we think light beer shouldn't taste like water" is very obviously an opinion and "puffery" and not at all actionable under truth-in-advertising law. And I'd say it's also utterly uncontroversial (as long as it's not your brand of beer being called water).

@DogsB said in In other news today...:

I remember that when Brosnan started (ok, not really , but getting there), some magazines reported actors considered and turned down. Ordered, from "almost got it" to "just no". Last place was shared by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rowan Atkinson.

You mean that light beer does taste like water? I assume that people specifically want that, otherwise they'd buy regular beer, no?

But regular beer tastes like piss.

It's good to see that sometimes the old things don't change. During the Great Browser War (Netscape v. IE), it was revealed in litigation that Microsoft instructed their programmers to display web pages in a degraded fashion in other browsers.

I assume that's what people want when they order a regular beer, otherwise they'd buy an IPA or similar, no?
